Fujiyama! awesome video yet again. learning so many things from you two as a new blackstone owner. ive done fried rice 2 times, last time was a fail..too much soy sauce i think.. i may give it another go this weekend! also, that tip on pre-cooking the rice and spreading it to cool is paramount ive learned. helps it toast better on a hot griddle. I payed $15.99 a lb for NY strip today....probably should have gone with the shrimp

Y’all! This was a fun cook to watch - thanks! Only had my BS for a little over a week and so seeing your techniques/spatula work has really helped me feel more confident at the grill. Also, when you acknowledge your “mistakes” (like forgetting to put down oil or forgetting to put half the butter down first) and seeing that the food *still* turns out great is a real confidence booster! Thanks so much and keep twinning!

Wow, thank you so much! Honestly, the reason we cook the way we do is because we know we aren’t perfect just like many other griddlers. Unfortunately, there are plenty of people who put others down and mock when it’s not perfect. We love the Blackstone because it almost always comes out great, mistakes and all. "Thumbs down twice if you don't like it" Genius! lol One thing i like to do, is let the butter get soft, and mix in some garlic and a little soy sauce, and spoon that on everything a it's cooking. The garlic butter enhances it a ton! This is similar to what they do at Benihana. I use two sticks of butter, a whole head of garlic, minced, and a teaspoon or so of soy sauce.

love your guyses channel.... that looked absolutely delicious but I just wanted to add my two cents in just because LOL.... when I see this being done at restaurants and when I do it myself I usually allow the rice to cook a little bit more on the griddle with a little bit of the oil and butter so that all of the rice is coated really well as it's sitting there frying and then at the soy sauce towards the end. I'm sure both ways will probably come out exactly the same I was just noting the difference in technique
@waltwins2 жыл бұрын
Yes!! You got it! We’ve gotten much better at allowing for the rice to fry a bit more - the trick is getting it right - Brett likes his rice a bit more “fried” or firm, where I prefer it less. Thank you so much for watching and for the comment fam!🤙🤙

Thank you so much for watching! It was always soy sauce - when we go to the Japanese steak houses they always they jokingly refer to the soy and teriyaki sauces as “coca-cola” we should have been more careful to point out it was always soy sauce. This dish, however, is also excellent with teriyaki sauce as well (some soy, some teriyaki). Hope this helps! Let us know if you have any other questions!🤙🤙

How is the best way to reheat left overs of this dish?

Thank you so much for watching! Honestly, we just toss them in the microwave, although you could just heat up the griddle and throw the food on for a quick minute to heat it all up! Take care!🤙🤙

Definitely soy sauce! They always call it Coca-cola when you go to the restaurant. We hope that didn’t confuse you. And this tastes just like Yamato!!!🤗🤤

Yes! So sorry for the confusion, we tried to mention it, but we realize the confusion. It seems every time we go they always mention the “Japanese Coca-Cola” when pouring in the soy sauce. 😜

Desserts like fried apple/blueberry pies Cinnamon rolls Cookies Bratwursts Fair foods. Bourbon bbq chicken You can use content where you utilize the whole griddle using covered items. You could do a collaborative video using 2 or using a smaller griddle for smaller talked food items. I'm just trying to help support my habit. Thanks for your effort.

Haha! You are awesome! We just need to screenshot this for our next 20 cooks or so! It's crazy you said that about Brett's 22" - we totally discussed him bringing it for a major cook! First of all I would like to nice job with the food. It looks tasty. Keep up the good work. Moving on, I would like to kindly correct your and the viewers' understanding of what authentic teppanyaki is since many people do not seem to be aware that what they believe is Japanese teppanyaki is in fact not..... American teppanyaki vs the real thing is like comparing Tex-Mex to authentic Mexican food. Actually, the difference between the two is more than that. It's more like comparing Dell Taco or Taco Bell to the actual Mexican food. In Japan Teppanyaki is normally considered a luxury meal, akin to a high end French restaurant in the states where business meetings are done and proposals are made. It's a place where one goes to splurge for a special occasion since prices typically range between $125-$350/person. Ingredients are almost exclusively high quality. The main protein is usually a type of wagyu. Chicken and pork are uncommon. Secondly, the method of cooking is VERY different. In Japan, the chef does not perform a show and hardly converses with the guest. There is no onion volcano. No flashy cooking. No tossing food into people's mouths. That would NEVER happen in a Teppanyaki restaurant. The chef only focuses on cooking. Third, the way the chefs cook the food differs a lot as well. Because the ingredients used in Japanese Teppanyaki are of such high quality, they will almost never pour soy sauce or any other sauce on the meat or seafood directly while it's cooking. At most they will drizzle a sauce on top after it's been plated but usually if there are any sauces it will be served on the side as an option to dip. Quite often the chef won't even salt the protien and will serve salt on the side. Teppanyaki is supposed to focus on cooking quality ingredients well so they do very little to change the ingredient itself. The portions are very small but the quality is the finest there is. You are supposed enjoy and savor one bite at a time. Also, the griddles aren't as hot as they are in the states. Lastly, many people seem to be using the term hibachi incorrectly. Hibachi and teppanyaki are two completely different things. Hibachi are these round or rectangular braziers (small charcoal grills) that are used to grill. They are not all related to the flat griddles used for teppanyaki. If you would like to see what 'normal' teppanyaki is like, I have added a few links I found that best represents your usual experience in Japan. The last video is the cheapest teppanyaki I could find. It's cheaper cause there are fewer courses, it's lunch time, and the overall quality of the ingredients are below average of your typical teppanyaki. FYI I live in Tokyo but was born and raised in the states so I have experienced both sides first hand. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qXSYcoqjbqt0f9k kzbin.info/www/bejne/qobZaKWFZtWcd9U kzbin.info/www/bejne/oF6Ti5uGrd2Im9E kzbin.info/www/bejne/i5uki36fr92pp5Y

Thank you so much for this, Kevin! We knew that hibachi is cooked on a different way. We have found that here, people tend to all call it that, so we just wanted to simplify it. But we really appreciate your explanation on teppanyaki! We would love to visit Japan, and have the real thing! Thank you so much for watching! Griddle on brother!!!😁❤️🤙🏻
