I was looking for a horror ambience tutorial and got this. Even if it wasn't what i was looking for at the moment, this is a really good tutorial! Reminds me of one of those nostalgic, depressive music that really hits you in the feels. I may need this video one day, so thank you very much for this!

This looks very inspirational. I am about to start following it. I am wanting to make music for my videos I make, atmospheric soundtracks . I have made some tracks in the past, that I like, but My obsessional behaviour means that I did it My own way, messily, in Reason. Now I have fl studio and I want to learn the correct way to arrange efficiently. I am going to subscribe, feel free to comment here to see if I manage to follow and make a track.. Also, I think a step by step video would be helpful for People like Me who get distracted.

Is this genre called dark ambient?
@auroratoness11 ай бұрын
yes
@AmongTheUnknownАй бұрын
With the confusion of the genre “Ambient” with people thinking they mean something in the lines of horror, and how “dark ambient” just adds onto that assumption, we really need an actual new name for what people like oneheart is making. Lofi Ambient? Chill Ambient?
@OmnitroidMusic4 ай бұрын
Funny enough I was just thinking about making some dark ambient. I swear KZbin somehow read my mind XD
@UMBR.8 ай бұрын
I would say this is not necessarily dark. It is definitely emotive and beautiful, but not dark. I think it would be dark if it was dissonant. Simple minor scales are pleasantly harmonious (consonant). For a dark sound, you want clashing pitches; notes and chords that are out of key; and sounds that are distorted, and harsh. A good place to start is with scales like the Whole Tone scale and the Locrian modal scale. And consider dissonant note combinations that clash, eg: 1) Minor 2nd intervals like C and C#; 2) And the _"Devil's Interval"_ aka the tritone, that is notes 6 semitones apart, like C and F# These give music a "dark" quality, scary, ideal for horror scenes.
