Those of you that criticise the methods used to cut and drill the materials in this video have not read the title correctly. It very clearly states AMISH. The Amish people live very simple lives and care not for modern technology. They do not have mains electricity and fancy tools that you consider to be the correct ones for a given job. Consequently they use what they have at hand and the result is a finished toy that you have spent time admirring. I have visited the Amish community in Lancaster, Pensilvania and they are extremly skilled in every aspect of what they take on. They may not do things in the 'conventional' way but the results that I witnessed far surrpassed the quality I have seen by some so called tradesmen with high tech gear and no idea how to use it. A lot of you can not comprehend simple english, yet you feel you can give an 'educated' opinion on things you obviously do not understand.

You are very right, I visit also some working in Maroco, else Zellige (or Zeelige), its done with a few materials, workers are sitting down, directly on the ground. But result is beautifull and I use those technics for me.

This is indeed an excellent machine to show children the power of potential energy which with a little imagination would be applied to the fuel energy in an internal combustion engine complete with valve and crankshaft . Congratulations on the idea and it should be shown in all schools to show children that ingenuity is all around us . Here is a teaching unit which, changed education into intelligence for our children!

Cool. If you cennect the dipper to a lever that can lift the marbles back up, would it run for a day non stop?

It's harder than it looks! No mention of drill sizes, dowel diameters, downward angle of the feed slope, etc.. These are all critical.

This were too much easy !!!! You can complete to you and pecfect this with your materiels, tools, etc ...

You can now use any other mechanism and make those collected marbles to go up so that the whole process continues

You could use plexiglass instead wood, change the will on piece of stick and call it gravity motor.
@chaoticantifreeze Жыл бұрын
why dont the amish use this to make an engine? they could use this design for spinning lathes and producing things.

Instead of placing the marbles one at a time in the upper trough, simply make a funnel and just pour them in all at once.

Just omit the wooden box and let the marbles roll away. When you lose all your marbles .....

It's a CA glue activator. He's basically using super glue. Using the activator sets the glue immediately(or dang close) this way you dont have to hold in place till it dries.

THAT'S NOT HOW YOU CUT WOOD! YOU USE A SAW, DAMMIT! And then you sand it off cleanly using a sanding block. Sidecutters, indeed. You want my woodwork teacher to turn over in his grave, you do. OH NO YOU DIDN'T! Use a Phillips screwdriver to drill a a hole... and a hacksaw to cut wood. AAAARGH now the ppor man is *spinning* in his grave (and he isn't even dead yet)

Also, the wheel looked like it had an axle hole, that was then filled with a dowel, and a dowel glued to it. Why not just glue a dowel through the hole?

I saw that just as a centre marking on a solid wheel. Doubt it's a filled hole, unless someone else provided it / it was the handiest thing available

The mother of ingenuity has a son call Invention. Tools are a funny thing. Use the right tool for the job, unless of course you don't have the means then you are creative and use what you have. Who cares what he drilled a whole with in the creation of this toys.

exact formula .. 2.54cm equals 1 inch, or 1 inch equals 2.54 Centimeters.. the easier thing to do is google a equivalent calculator, many desktop and laptops have them already installed, using your calculator app, open it and change whatever you want to convert in the settings menu.. God Bless!
