Cyclic voltammetry method has been used to compare the electrochemical behaviors for the supercapacitors electrode based on the activated carbon material in form of monolith derived from areca catechu husk in 1 M H2SO4 and 1 M KOH electrolyte solutions. Monolith carbon electrode in 1 M H2SO4 performed excellent electrochemical storage properties including a highest specific capacitance of 150 F g−1 , energy density of 20.83 Wh kg-1 , and power density of 75.06 W kg-1 at 1.0 V voltage window. However, the specific capacitance produced from the KOH electrolyte is more stable than the H2SO4 at high scanning rates of 10 mV s-1 with reduced of 70.4%. These results suggest and confirm that 1 M H2SO4 is the ideal aqueous electrolyte for monolith biomass based-carbon electrode especially derived from areca catechu husk.

This experiment works because of the potassium aluminum hydroxide, which produces free electrons. But if you want to actually consume the oxygen to complete the reaction with the hydroxyl groups, you need to use a breathable cathode. For a real aluminum-air (or metal-air) battery, you need to use a cathode like carbon to react with the oxygen and hydroxy groups in the electrolyte. You can try a new design, using a cathode in contact with air on one side and the electrolyte on the other side, and the carbon cannot be flooded.
@MrElectron2 ай бұрын
@@danielrosselli Actually, I have already done that project in the past with the carbon cathodes around a year back and yes, the results was great. This time I went with the steel wire because somehow I have experienced that the mA output for steel wire is a little higher for same cathode area of crossection.

Good idea and its much improvable 👍 starting with geometrik after making your Ironcoil print a seperator 1mm thick around this coil the alu around it so you got a round cell instead of a two point cell. 👍Now you take some spare alu to connect all cells as thick as posible, also use bolts to connect the ironcoils to each other 👍 these 2 things will give the Reaktion much better surface so more Reaktion in same space, also the bigger Terminals support bigger Wattages and leads to less powerlosses between the cells👍 hope this helps you improve it 👍

It is much easier than that. Simply mix aluminum with strong hydroxide or hydrochloric acid and you can produce plenty of hydrogen very quickly. Sometimes the reaction starts slowly but it can quickly go out of control once the aluminum oxide passivation layer has dissolved. @gsestream2 ай бұрын
nice, you got it working. do you have any idea why its working in the air mode and not in the voltaic pile mode. ie why it prefers the aluminium-air instead of aluminium-iron working mode. one little problem is that the aluminium+KOH produces hydrogen. so it might drop down to hydrogen+ogyxen fuel cell at 0.6-0.7v working mode. if the liquid/walls gets saturated with hydrogen gas. do some long time tests, how the cell operates. not only fresh cells. if the chemistry gets contaminated easily then not so good. ie total energy over time graph. if it works in true aluminium-air mode, then no dendrite formation, just aluminium consumption. you have two reactions going at the same time. the deposition reaction is the second. find a chemistry that does not do that deposition. yeah carbon air electrode does not do that. try silver. possibly platinum. with silver you get the silver air electrode brightening up. yep the silver clean-up chemistry. try silver spoons as the air electrode.

Well ! there is this big confusion with may viewer's. Firstly - This term Air battery is not given by me but by the inventor of this air battery. Charles F homes patented the first aluminium air battery. Secondly - Air battery name was never meant for air electrolyte but flow of current because of absorption of air (oxygen) by the anode aluminium (or others) . Thirdly - Water contains different levels of dissolved gasses amongst which, oxygen is also present in large quantities. So in simple terms, the name air battery was give in 1886 because air (oxygen) is consumed by Amluminum for production of current and not because the electrolyte is air or gaseous. Air battery electrolytes can be solid state as well as liquid.

Great project, but why call it an "Air Battery " ? It's an Electrolyte Battery. Proper wording is crucial in science !

@@jimviau327 Air (oxygen) gets consumed from the surroundings by the Aluminium plates to produce electrons. Hence the term aluminium air battery

Good battery, but NOT air battery! Aluminium-copper alkaline battery.

Seems like you are new to my channel. I can totally understand you especially when there is so much fake content surrounding us all over youtube, insta and fb. It will take time for you to gain trust on any new channel with research grade content. I as a content creator will say only 3 things about me. 1- You are free to verify my other videos to gain trust. 2- I am the one who actually exposes the fake video creators on youtube through my other channel ( Mr. electron alternator ). 3- I never hide the number of dislikes on my videos even though this option has been provided by youtube. Although, I think it's an evil option and I have asked youtube to remove it but at the end, it's youtube's decision. I hope that these should clarify things.
