What I do is applying the texture to my model then have a separate image texture for the irises which I attach to a Simple Axis Object, which is attached to a Bone and texture coordinate, attach to object and Z axis rotated to either -90° or 90°, which enable my irises actually move even if it's a flat image. For the Bone in the armature menu, add the Bone Constraint : Skin Wrap, and attach it to your mesh and orient it with the Y axis with Project.

When I change the offset, instead of going to the next texture it just turns the plain completely pink. As a result the only image the works is the first one selected :/

I figured out a way to fix this, you have to name it numerically. For example "face 1" and "face 2" would work whereas "angry eyes" and "happy eyes" would not work.

you need to make all the names of the images you are using the same, then add a number to the end. for example: charaFace001 charaFace002... and so on for all your images.

So I have an issue where in pose mode the texture wont move with the rig and only stays in one spot. Is there a fix for that? Edit: Fixed! Dont know how but it seems its because I did all this before I made the model's armature. Once I deleted and redid the textures it was fine

I find it doesn't work if the images don't have numbers in them. so try naming them something like image 1, image 2, image 3, or something like that

@@BlobbyAdventures yeah, they had numbers but still didn’t work… but no worries I solved the problem! In a new blender file I imported the images and created an “animation” of the textures of the eyes. I exported the animation with transparent background (with an alpha channel video format) Basically I grouped the images into a single video. I used that video as the texutre for the eyes and I can control the frames with the offset just like you did in the tutorial, it works perfectly now. Thanks for replying and trying to help! 😁

@@peacfulcrimewave882 sure ! #1) First you need the animated textures, you can download or draw the textures by yourself (that’s what I did). #2) Ones you have the texture, you need to import the textures to a video editor that can export in a video format that supports alpha channel (otherwise the background will appear as blank when you export the video). If you don’t have a video editor like that, you can just use blender as a video editor.. I imported the textures as image plane one by one and created the animation. In every frame of the video there will be a new eye texture. #3) Once you have your video, when you go to shading in blender, in the image texture select the video, follow the same steps of the tutorial and you’re goood to go 👍

If you change the keyframe types to Constant in the timeline it will only change to the face keyframed rather then transition from all the other faces in between.

If you put the image color into the emission slot it removes any lighting. And if you change the shadow mode in Material Properties to none it won't cast any shadows.

Was having trouble with this too, if you click on the dropdown of the image node that says single image, they'll be an option that says image sequence, select that. The cycle and refresh options should pop up.
