I love that Pikat said "improbable anime hair" instead of just "impossible" because it implies that, statistically speaking, there is someone out there who's got natural anime protagonist hair

tbf, the character on screen when she said that was yami from yugioh and there is a black cosplayer who was able to shape their fro into that hairstyle. when she said textured hair can come in a bigger variety of styles she wasnt kidding lol

I'm ngl my hair has looked very anime protagonist-y in the morning. The antennae are indeed possible, I say this from personal experience.

Im sure you mentioned it in other videos, but when shading/adding details, always remember: determine the big primary shape (for hair: which half is in shadows). Don't let the secondary shapes obscure the primary shape (shade the individual, big strands). Repeat for tertiary shapes (individual strands/texture /locks within a bigger strand) I think proko did a good explanation on that principle

Your guides are so helpful! Ive been wanting to learn to draw for years, but Im so impatient. If I dont see near-immediate progress I decide its not for me and give up. And then I work on my fantasy novel and think how great it would to draw these characters I see in my head non stop, so I try again. Rinse and repeat ad nauseam. But this time Im sticking with it, been practicing a lil bit every day for a couple weeks now and Im seeing decent progress(who would have thought😅) Hair has proven to be a particularly large roadblock, its so frustrating. Between this video and the "You can learn anything" one hope has been restored and Im ready to try again. ❤❤❤ PS: I am so hype to see Monster Hunter fan art. My favorite game series hands down

I’m a programmer and aspiring game developer. Ive always enjoyed drawing but I was never really that good until a couple years ago when I started putting in more effort to improve. I feel like ive made improvements in chunks, where i suddenly understand something and see a noticeable improvement. So I just wanna mention my experience with Xp-pen I bought an XP-PEN Artist 22E Pro which costs half as much what wacom would and its still holding up, the only thing now after like 4 years of using it (a lot) is that one of the two pens stopped workin which they send and the screen is scratched up a bit, which for how much I draw seems like a very nice cheaper big screen table

I think my biggest problem is also shading. Cause usually when I look at the works of some of the artists you mentioned here, there's a huge jump between just placing the base shadows and the final look and I never know how to get there. Thanks for the video - it helped when you talked about shape design as well! I think your final result looks really awesome, regardless of the improbability of the hairstyle😂

So as to how I understand it, you need to know how real life hair works in order to know how to stylize it well through design 🤔Like shading only using 2 values to get a sense of form, you don't need to draw a lot of hair strands to make it appear organic and or have a lot of detail.
