I have seen a great many glass knapping vids on the tube...you are the first to mention how to support the blank in your hand to avoid breakage. Good video.

Have you tried the water technique? If you put water in the glass a quarter of the way full and pop the top with a rubber mallet, you can get a pretty perfect break every time. A cavitation bubble causes the glass to break.

I love your videos. I had a hard time after moving to state with no forageable chert continuing my knapping hobby without buying stone. Which I feel defeats the purpose to a large extent. I watched many others channels but I truely learned how to ajust my skills from chert to glass from you. Thank you and keep the awesome content coming!

Easier to find than a copper nail is large gauge copper ground wire. Sometimes there is quite a bit extra attached to the ground rod outside your house, usually directly under your meter in the ground. I've found anywhere from a couple inches, enough for one pressure flakes, to a foot or more, enough for quite a few pressure flakers.

I always fill the beer bottle half way up with water, then hit the top with wood or something soft. This makes the bottom pop out perfectly with no small shards.

@American-Plague

Yes. Obsidian is generally the most sought after rock for knapping. It's just volcanic glass is all it is.
@American-Plague

Old TV screens and monitors work good as the glass is really thick so YOU have to thin it down, just like a natural spall of Obsidian/flint.
