It's a tray, and it's a hexagon, and it stacks! Pick you own pattern to personalize it or match it to a specific game. Hope you like it! My favorite step is when you curve it around and it pops up into a 3D hexagonal ring - I'll never get tired of how satisfying that is!

Can you make it any bigger?
@WoodfishToys3 жыл бұрын
@@jonathanfuchikami5799 Yes, I had a viewer send me pictures of bigger versions they made from the same template. I sized the pdf template so that it would fit on a single piece of standard paper, but you could print it out at any enlarged scale (maybe 150%) and tape together multiple pages to make the template. Let me know if that helps!

Tried it out for a game I'm gonna DM for my siblings next week. It's perfect for it and wasn't too difficult to put together either!

That's really clever and it makes me feel like it's simple enough that I can do it. Also, I love the soothing tone of the video like watching Bob Ross paint. #happylittletrays

Haha, maybe all that Bob Ross watching as a kid had an effect on me. Thanks for your comment, and yes, give it a try! Make sure you score the dashed lines very firmly to make the bending process easy.

Came here from today's Winter Spectacular launch video - just starting to explore your channel now, but I love it so far! Very calming, kind, encouraging voice, nice paper sounds, and pleasant music. I honestly get feelings of anxiety just imagining myself trying some of these (especially the dice tower), but I definitely love the channel and this one looks so useful and pretty simple. I could see myself giving this a try over winter break. Thanks!!

Hey James, thanks so much for checking it out and the kind words! The dice tower is the most complex - I'd definitely recommend starting with this dice tray - I think it has the best satisfaction-to-difficulty ratio! Just make sure you glue the paper to the cardboard really well and you'll be fine!

This is a great idea. Not just a dice tray but you can use it for playing pieces, like those darn virus cubes in Pandemic or the resources in Architects of the West Kingdom. Thank you for this great idea!

You're welcome Rupert, I'm so glad you like it! Ya, definitely can be used for components too! I originally had a design with vertical inside walls and it was too difficult to dig out small dice or game pieces. So that use case, along with making them stackable, was what led to the final flared shape.

Thank you!! I'll try to make one today. Seems I can do it.

As an experiment I made one of these using only printer paper (no cardboard) and it works just fine. Obviously, it's light and not as durable, but it's much quicker if you just need to get some made.

For the scoring step, you can not only use a knitting needle or a butter knife. An empty ballpoint pen will work too!

Hi Eduardo! It's so nice to hear when people appreciate the videos! I hope you enjoy making the tray. I also really enjoy seeing the dice in slow motion - I could watch that all day!
