Instead of using the sweet ingredients, today I stirred in chives and thyme, then after adding it to the pan, sprinkle parmigiana reggiano, and BOOM: Savory Dutch Baby for lunch served with a greens salad. It was amazing!

I often double this recipe, this way we have a slight chance for some leftovers! ☺️ But I’m noticing I need to cook it longer; especially in the first part when it’s rising at 425 degrees. I’m guessing this makes sense since I’ve doubled the ingredients; just wondering if anyone else has had this same experience. Thanks- we love ❤️ the recipe!
@GiveMeLemons3 жыл бұрын
Haha, we always double the recipe, too! But we bake them in two 8" pans. Do you use one large pan for the double recipe? That must look pretty impressive coming out of the oven! 😍 In any case, I'm so glad you've figured out a way to make it work for you. I appreciate the wonderful engagement.

Can one use box pancake mix? My fav is Aunt Jemima yummy 😋
@GiveMeLemons3 жыл бұрын
I've never made it with a boxed mix, but you can try it out and let me know. I would add 1 or 2 extra eggs in there though since the batter for dutch babies is more like crepe batter. Also, don't forget the scorching hot pan and enough melted butter in the pan!

I am late to the party, but i háve a question, recipe calks for 50 g butter: 40g of butter into skillet, 10g into batter, Then more butter into skillet?
@GiveMeLemons8 ай бұрын
Hi there! Correct, you need a total of 50g butter, separated. 40g of melted butter goes into the batter. The remaining 10g goes into the hot pan before pouring in the batter. Hope that clarifies things.

Do you think one could make a clean version using coconut oil instead of butter and coconut milk (or an oat/nut milk) instead of milk? 😄
@GiveMeLemons4 жыл бұрын
I think that would be absolutely delicious, maybe a bit like a Thailandish custard. I think you could definitely sub the coconut oil for butter. I'm not entirely sure about the coconut milk being cooked on so high a heat? You may want to try a different alternative like oat or rice milk first. I would love how it goes if you make it!

It was awesome for clean! Butter-->coconut oil Milk-->oat milk without added sugar Sugar-->coconut sugar Flour-->spelt or 1050 Served with crushed, roasted nuts and mango/apple sauce. Obviously the 'real' version is MUCH tastier and looks more beautiful. But thanks to your video, I could eat a Dutch Baby (something I've never made) during my detox!! :-* :-*

'Dutch' isn't a mispronunciation. It's the English form of native name for Germans (which is why the Netherlanders don't use it anymore now they're independent) before the Latin names (stemming from 'Germania') became cool. The Pennsylvania Dutch are also Germans.
@GiveMeLemons15 күн бұрын
Very interesting! Could it be a combination of both, the English word "Dutch" being derivative of the German word "Deutsch?"
@MarkoT-xy6ep15 күн бұрын
@GiveMeLemons Yes, that's what I meant with the 'English form' - a 'derivative' (I'm not a native speaker). But 'Deutsch' is High German, 'Dutch' is a derivative of Low German (hence 'Netherlands') forms (various spelling from Amsterdam to Hamburg, which is the region the English had contact with).
@GiveMeLemons15 күн бұрын
I love learning about language origins and history! Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge.
@MarkoT-xy6ep15 күн бұрын
@@GiveMeLemons And I like sharing, so thank YOU, haha A little diaclaimer, I wasn't trying to portray the Netherlanders as if they're just Germans. There were these medieval teutonic (latin form of 'deutsch/dutch') people and modern Germans and Netherlanders are their equal descendants. And the division was on political, not tribal grounds.

Enjoy these shorter videos. Can't understand why a recipe calling for 4-5 ingredients needs to be 30 minutes of video or longer. This video has much info in compact form, it lists the ingredients, moves through the steps quickly plus it gives one a bit of a history lesson.all in less than 4 minutes. What's not to like?
