@@imonthewinningside8281 a single candle flame creates about 100 BTU's of heat, so long as you have an insulated space that's enough to heat for a 25sq/ft space relatively easily. Used to use candles for a portable heater. The medium glass jars with three wicks work best but the singles arr fine too. Put about 5 or 6 of them in a knee height cardboard box, tent the top flaps to where it concentrates and vents out each side and it'll eventually get warm enough to heat an average sized betroom 500-1500 btu's of heat is nothing to scoff at. If you're afraid of the box catching fire, which it shouldn't because the flames are contained within the jar, just use an pair of large ceramic flower pots with the hole in the center, one over the other.
@NotWorthTheAirIBreathe

If you use flower pots on top of a candle, it'll produce alot of heat. Use a small pot with a drain hole at the base, set some items around the base of candle to support the pot, flip the pot upside down over the candle. Get a very large pot without a drain hole, set more supports around the outside of the small pot, then flip the large pot upside down and place on supports. Now you have a heater that radiates Hella heat.

This literally saved my life in 1992. Alabama had a blizzard! We don’t have snow plows and stuff like that. A lot of houses don’t even have fireplaces. If you did not have a generator or a fireplace, you were freezing, because everybody lost power for over a week. And no one could move because the streets were not plowed. If you did not go to the grocery store before this, you were not only freezing but you were starving at the same time. Go a week without food, water or heat.

If you want to conserve your fuel just use it long enough to heat up a small pot of water, and if it gets to a boil you can snuff the flame, but the pot will stay hot enough to keep heat until it cools off. I learned this from getting snowed in a remote area for three weeks

Reminds me of a survival hack that I learned watching TV. It’s kind of funny. I was watching That 70’s Show. I think it’s safe to assume we’re all familiar with that show. It’s supposed to take place in Wisconsin. The dad, Red Forman was talking about things to have in your car for emergencies. He said to keep a shovel, a coffee can, a candle, and kitty litter in the trunk in case they get stuck in the snow. You dig out the tires as much as you can. Then you put the coffee can behind the rear tires and put the lit candle inside. This will melt the snow and ice. The coffee can conducts heat and prevents the candle from being blown out by the wind. Then you spread the kitty litter for traction. I think that’s a great DIY, self-sufficient solution if you get stuck in the snow.

This channel, is just one of those extremely rare hyper quality, novel & unique channels. You know what I mean? Channels like Technology Connections, Xander Budnick, Coffeezilla, Historia Civilis, Cool Worlds, Steve1989MREInfo etc… Timeless, classic. The reference about references. Something rare. Something worthy. Something extremely special that cannot be quantified linguistically & can only be described by emotion, and the only emotion I know, that can properly describe this channel & others like it, is magic. Is magic an emotion? No, not really, but that’s what it feels like nonetheless. Thank you for your amazing work & thank you for freely spreading your wisdom & knowledge, of which was passed down, I’m sure, through many generations of your family. When you talk, I hear your father, & his father, & perhaps his father as well. Wisdom that has travelled through time, that is incalculably valuable, for me & so many others. Wishing you & your family health & success for 2023.

Good info. I make my "Buddy Burners" with cardboard and alcohol. Cut strips of cardboard to fit the can and stick them in tight. Pour in the alcohol, put the lid on it, then put the quart can into a gallon can. That gives you a safe, portable stove that's easy to cook on. As a heater, light the quart heater inside the can, then put a clay pot on top, resting it on the gallon can. Safe and effective 👍
NEVER throw away Styrofoam leftovers! Genious idea!
