Very instructive tutorial, Bobeats. I bought a Minilogue a month ago, and after experimenting on my own, it is great to watch tutorials such as these. I appreciate that you describe each setting as you modify it, as opposed to skipping steps. Thanks!

I think the minilogue is a great synth. It unfortunately does not fit my soundscapes but it is a very capable instrument. You have been able to coax some very mellow sounds out of it and that is no easy task. I listened to your presents and of course many other videos and I have to say the minilogue has a very dark sound. It can be warm and full but it is always dark, almost spooky at times when you attempt mellow sounds. It seems to loose this dark flavor when it's programmed for wired textures and basses. I think works well for many things but it is in my opinion a spooky synth. Thanks for the videos Bo
@BoBeats7 жыл бұрын
I think that is very true. Slightly dark and also brittle sounds. For bass and lead I think it packs the most punch and versatility, pads almost always turn out very dark for me

Why is everyone with a knack for niche accomplishments called Bob Ross ?
@supercommando4407 жыл бұрын
What synth combines the 4 track sequencing of the Roland jdxi with features found in this Korg? I'm torn between the two. I guess the roland is more for song creation while this korg is more for sound creation. I'd buy both if I had the space, time and $. I really wish korg implemented multi-track sequencing on this. I'd be sold if it did or on something that would combine features of this korg with the 4-track seq of the roland
@BoBeats7 жыл бұрын
I think you are right in that the Minilogue sequencer is very limited and not meant to create songs on it.
@supercommando4407 жыл бұрын
BoBeats hey thanks for the reply
@supercommando4407 жыл бұрын
BoBeats could this Korg be hooked to the Roland jdxi? The Roland has a 4 track 16 step sequencer... great for song building BUT, I love the sound and control the Korg offers. I want both but not if they cant be connected. I want to use both but not thru software, but connected via midi.

This is not your fault, but the Minilogue is just not a pad synth...the envelope reset is it’s huge weakness in this regard. Your programming is about as good as this is gonna get, and I’ll say you made about the nicest pad you’re likely to get.....However, when I turn on my Prophet ‘08 or Matrix 12 the pads just roll out of it with no effort whatsoever. You’d probably have a ball with synths that deep, just as I do. All in all, well done on the sound, nice touches in the video!
@BoBeats6 жыл бұрын
I agree :-) and thanks
@saturatedneowax4 жыл бұрын
@Sébastien F. I think he’s talking about the lfo being retriggered every time you hit a new note, I don’t know what an envelope reset is tho
@marc.lepage4 жыл бұрын
@@saturatedneowax Sounds like it; some synths have a "legato mode" where if you play a series of notes, the envelope only happens once for the series, not once for each note. This sounds like what he means.
@maxwilson7001 Жыл бұрын
You can do this with the Minilogue, sorta. If you turn the portamento time to 0 and then play a note beyond it’s voice capacity (a 5th note in poly, a 3rd in duo, and 2nd in mono, etc) while holding down the original notes, then the envelope will not retrigger. It is a workaround but it does exist.

one of my original patches does not sound as it should anymore....it's the sawtooth. Have there been issues with Minilogues and patches going out of tune or changing settings?
@BoBeats7 жыл бұрын
+Lane Collins the Minilogue can go out of tune and you can retune it while its on (see manual). But other than that I do not know.
@ekkeviira23816 жыл бұрын
Maybe it sounded better when it was out of tune. That is very much my experience with my own minilogue as well, it sounds different depending on how much youve given it time to warm up or, just the weather. Youll need to retune it after a bit of use almost always though: SHIFT+REC.

Lawlz the only gear I have now a days is the po-12 and a kp mini. Running them through Glitch on Reaper is the shit and a half. It's actually not that hard producing breakcore on a pocket operator.
@supercommando4407 жыл бұрын
Kind of misleading in some parts. You say you turn down a setting, like delay but I see you adjust 3 other knobs, hence the resulting sound is not just the delay adjustment. Makes it really hard to follow what your doing
@BoBeats7 жыл бұрын
I should have shot it in a better angle. But I summarize what I am doing I think. And misleading would be a very misleading word to use my dude. I wasnt clear enough :-) I can agree on that much

honestly i hate this synth, besides its basic square saw and squares with some lfos. using it for pads sounds so cheesy. ive had it for about a year and i use it for everythingbut honeslty its bass is so weak, ive tried to make it sound fat, and no matter how much you dirty it up, it sounds like it has a high pass filter on it.
