This drinks tastes much better if you melt the caramel in the espresso otherwise it just sits at the bottom. Leave a little room at the top and put some frothed milk or whipped cream then drizzle extra caramel on it. It won’t sink to the bottom after a moment and just sit in a pool and you will taste both vanilla and caramel when you drink it. Trust me, much better this way I’ve done hundreds both ways

How is this any different than the Starbucks version? And its not a vanilla latte because it gets 1 less pump of vanilla, shots on top and caramel drizzle. This drink was made americanized when iced became an option, because when the drink is hot, it is a completely different experience. The foam is "marked" with the espresso, hence the name macchiato (Italian for marked). There is a reason it is different.

Not sure if it matters but according to Starbucks recipe they put the caramel first as a double hatch pattern, then pull the shot. Maybe it helps it melt into the milk.

looks like vertuo plus. i have one and have been enjoying it. the pod seems to be bianco leggero (replaced by bianco doppio recently), it's a nice pod that's slightly sweet and fits well with anything.
