I have been sewing since I was 9. Soon be 77 yrs. Sewing for joy and to assist those in need is good for you. Keep your head working w measuring, planning, sorting thru my stash..Yes. I have a fair size one even now. My kids and grandkids all have quilts and knitted items. Young people today do not have hobbies that will result in something done while anxious, waiting thru a difficult pregnancy, illness, etc. If we can do something with our hands we look back at accomplishments, not lost time and depression. Lessons from a long life with its share of upset and downs. Have a nice day!

Hi Margaret, thanks for leaving such a lovely comment! You are so right. It is wonderful having a hobby to keep us busy and stop our minds wondering. 🤗
@MaryAnnNytowl Жыл бұрын
Please don't assume that "young people today" are hobby-less, or don't have hobbies that make things. It's extremely dismissive of several generations of people you don't even know. One should NEVER paint people with such a broad brush. I currently know multiple generations of hobbyists that do many kinds of things! Like woodworking, multiple kinds of crochet and knitting, sewing, painting (large and small, canvas to vehicles to murals), jewelry making, gardening, jelly & jam making, canning, and soapmaking. Some of my friends do multiple things on this list, as do I. I know some that are even learning NEW hobbies; as am I, in fact. These friends I refer to above range everywhere from 15 to 62, as well. Im pretty sure every generation of those "young people today" of which you complain are covered in that group. It's quite rude to assume that just because YOU don't know any "young people today" that can make something, they don't exist. That kind of attitude gives anyone over 60 a bad name. I can assure you that they absolutely do exist. In fact, many of them have KZbin channels (and other social media) sharing what they make, and how to make them! Perhaps seek them out and see that youve misjudged entire generations of people.

Hi! I’m 22, I used to work a lot when I first had my daughter. Recently I’ve been able to stay at home and enjoy my little one, I have started a small business in making chunky yarn blankets by hand! I definitely am obsessed with crafts I just never had the time as I do now. I think it’s beautiful to pass down to my daughter and looking into quilting now as well. She’ll always have something made from me🥹

I also am fairly new to quilting. I have made the easy rag quilt for a baby shower gift and there is really no messing up on that one. Also just made a 9 large rectangular block lap quilt. No binding, I have not conquered that yet, and it turned out ok. I rushed thru it and didn't get all straight or should I say even. The material I had to work with was very stretchy. Any tips on how to work with stretchy material so I don't mess up on the lining up the blocks? TIA for the replies.

Nice pattern, thanks! One tip I do that i find helps closing the turning hole is to trim that area about 1/4 inch bigger, it gives you a little more to turn in. Clip the ends of that piece on the diagonal and your ends are a touch longer to tuck in as well. I've been quilting a number of decades, this little tip does help a lot for quilts/blankets that you aren't binding.

I love the way you explain even the minutest detil, that is so important to a beginner, because things that others take for granted could prove a major stumbling block. Thanks for being meticulous. Nice work.

I am always a day late and a dollar short. 3 years late on this video. I love this idea of no batting and no binding. You say you use fleece...is there a special kind of fleece? I love quilting especially EASY tops. Thank You and Blessings.
@staceyleecreative4 ай бұрын
Thank you so much! 😊 There’s no special kind of fleece required-you can use regular fleece from any fabric store. It’s a great option for easy, cozy quilts without the need for batting or binding. I’m glad you loved the idea, and I hope you enjoy making more easy tops! Blessings to you too! 🌟

I have just watched my first video and I’m hooked! Your calmness welcomes us in to use a new technique, and your attention to detail is awesome! I have recently started using this method to make reversible table runners and wall quilts. I also make children’s comfort quilts using a panel and a few borders. I use a regular cotton batting and backing.

Love all of your videos and appreciate your wonderful teaching skills. One of the things I do with my scraps is to make scrappy "kennel quilts" of various sizes that I donate to local shelters for cats and dogs. These are much smaller quilts that fit into kennel carriers and/or are used for the rescued animals to have something warm to lay on. I think it's important that each of us give back and using our scraps is such an awesome way to create needed items to help those in need!!

Wow, what a beautiful quilt. You make it look so easy Stacey. I guess it really can be as one builds their knowledge of short cuts. I thought I was going to cut all my squares like our first quilt. Thus is SO much easier . Than you for another great video!🌸🌷🌸🌷🌸🌷🌸
@staceyleecreative3 жыл бұрын
Yes Debbie this way is so much easier. Although you don't get much control of the layout of the squares and the first quilt we made was about getting comfortable cutting and sewing, Thank you so much for leaving a comment! 😊

11:00am I’m so happy to have discovered your videos! Our church sewing ministry has been sewing for hospice programs and hospitalized children for a few years now. I’m certain we’d love to add your special children’s charity to our ministry. I have a large collection of fabric and your quilts would be a perfect way to use much of my collection. God bless you!
