I've done something similar, but I put a 15 degree cut in one end and a 25 degree cut in the other end so that it can be used from different viewing angles. Sitting at the breakfast table and reading the news works great at 25 degrees and if it is on a shelf that is closer to eye level, 15 degrees work better.

great idea , put some felt on the bottom so it wont scratch the furnature, you can get a piece of felt paper at hobby lobby for about $1. also you can make one for a smart phone also. you could make money off your simple idea also

It's not his simple idea it's every manufacturer in the world's idea every company whoever made smartphone stands has a wood in one with a cut in it there's nothing genius about this and no one's going to buy his blocks of wood with a slice in it to hold a tablet and the same one that you make to hold a tablet will hold your smartphone you don't need to make two different ones

thanks for the simple project. I want to make something like this as a gift for a friend but don't have the ipad myself. What is the dimension of the groove? The recipient has the same basic cover you have so I need the same size...

I just measured and I made the groove about 3/4" wide.

Jeff how heavy a wood do I need? Will 2 x 4 be heavy enough for the base? Would I be better off using a wider base or heavier wood? I do not have a table saw. Thank you for your reply. I’d like to use this as a table stand reference for when I paint my photos. Thank you.

I think a 2x material would work. A tablet isn't that heavy.

How about this lady instead of building this yourself why don't you just go buy one for $3 at the dollar store by the time you spend the money on a piece of wood and you say you don't have a saw spend the money on that cut yourself trying to build it.just go get one for three bucks

I don't have a table saw can I use jig saw or jerry rig my circular saw
@Casp3r.aka.Droid.2 жыл бұрын
I'm sure you could but don't you think it would be easier just to go spend $3 at a dollar store it will work both for your tablet and your smartphone and you ain't going to have to cut off your hand doing it

You made to big a deal out of it, I just notched out a half inch on a ten inch by ten inch by three quarter in board! Done in less then five minutes light sanding and simple stain I sold fifteen of these in less than a week!

You're an idiot you made too big of a deal out of this whole thing I'm roasting you and everybody else with dumbass comments

How about this people just go spend three f****** dollars at the Family Dollar or your closest grocery store Dollar Store something there's a lady in the comments saying what kind of wood should I get what size does it need to be how heavy and I don't have a table saw so she's going to go buy a piece of wood a table saw to make something that she could have just bought for three bucks and not cut her hand off in the process
