Tnx! This worked! I have my own OLED now! Tnx a lot!

Actually, that's not an OLED, but an Organic Light-Emitting Electrochemical Cell. It works in a slightly different way. OLEDs require contact materials with proper work functions. OLECs don't. A much simpler and quicker preparation can be found in the video "Preparation Of An Organic Light Emitting Diode" by Wisconsins Mrsec. (still that's not an OLED but an OLEC). In our labs we use an even simpler way, as can be found in many papers in the literature (and the working voltage -not current! - is 4.5V).

I've read that such cells have been used in biosensors and the mechanism is a classic example of reductive chemiluminescence in a transition metal complex.

Hi, this is an excelent work. what is the role of sodium hypophosphite?
@NoahKainWhittington6 жыл бұрын
Their is some leakage in the emissive layer. Probably due to the aluminium contacts. The device is just degrading as you leave it on. You can tell after he leaves he device powered on for a second or two. Parts of the cell begin to die and turn dark. I read in a paper that if you replace the aluminum contacts with Graphene it glows brighter without the leakage. (Dark spots).

"Now put them on a slide and spin them around really fast" I can probably do that. "Now put them in the antechamber" Starting to realize I might not be the target demographic for this tutorial...

There is 200 tons of soil waste in my warehouse. There are about half a kilo of ruthenium in every 1 ton. How do I parse. I'm investigating.
@excitedbox57053 жыл бұрын
Well you saw here what dissolves ruthenium. By soaking the soil in that then rinsing you can leach out the things you want. Then you need to evaporate the extra liquid, and you are left with a mixture of ruthenium and whatever else was leached out. Now you need to repeat the step with less liquid and use a chemical that favors the impurities and use a separatory funnel to remove the unwanted stuff. Repeat until you have your product.

How much can this cost?
@1wow1876 жыл бұрын
You must understand that these are highly toxic compounds and some may be as toxic as methyl-mercury, which can seep right through nitrile and latex gloves! And, then there is the waste you must absolutely deal with properly! You cannot just dump it! You could poison you and your family AND your neighbors and your neighbors down the street and across the street!
@pixiepaws994 жыл бұрын
@@1wow187 Even though this video has nothing to do with methylmercury or any other mercury compounds, methylmercury popped into my head too for some reason. I don't think any of these substances can penetrate nitrile gloves though.
