Love the paint scheme you used. I was immediately reminded of the background paintings of Eternia from the old He-Man cartoons. Which is awesome.

It's definitely got that great, cartoony, '70s and '80s psychedelic fantasy vibe to it: exactly the sort of thing you'd see in He-Man, or those old D&D adventure module cover art drawings, on an EGA computer game, or in a Heavy Metal magazine, or silk-screened onto the side of a "mystery machine" van! And I mean that it the best way possible - it's great stuff!

Liking the idea of adding some stippled glow in the dark paint to simulate glowing lichen on the walls. Can see using the paste combo with grit in those certain spots to create a different texture for the lichen.

Hey dude, I just wanted to say everything you make inspires me to continue in D&D. When I was in middle school and just getting into D&D I saw a documentary on model making for the game, and me being very self conscious at the time, it terrified me of not being ready for D&D and that I never would be. but now I found your channel literally the day this came out and I have a big one off in a month that I think might spiral into a big campaign. I was afraid of not impressing my players by not having any cool things to play with. I watched like all of your videos, (I now have a list of all things I need for the one off) and everything you make is a work of art. thank you for making this hobby a lot more open to me. If you see this then please PLEASE keep making videos. it helps

I made something like this recently, I can strongly recommend as well as the sort of stalagmite type rock formations...archway pieces look really good too. Just get two formations to the same height without tapering them too far at the top...then add a few layers on top that covers the footprint. Lots of different shapes work nicely with these style of rocks

I love the Underdark! Played G 1-3, D 1-3, and Q-1 back in 1984. Spent my whole summer in the basement with my friends. I wish we had miniatures and terrain. It was all theater of the mind. I can only imagine how cool it would have been if we had any of the stuff you build. Thank you!

I love the videos you put out concerning cost. It really is valuable finding deals in a game you love to craft for. A tip for people in finding free stuff however check out your local industries. I work in a particle board cabinetry/table/countertop manufacturing plant and I operate and maintain a 10' panel saw. Each day I throw away dumpsters full of IPB, MDF, BBAA Plywood and melamine. I have loads of 1/4" and 3/16" mdf scrap in my garage from my daily job that would have been thrown away.

I really liked this episode. I nice simple list of materials and nice simple techniques. Some may call it slap dash, but I think this technique can actually be applied to a wide array of other models and terrain. This is the sort of thing that makes me want to try this part of the hobby. I've never even painted a RPG miniature in over 40 years of playing.

THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH FOR THE INFO ON MDF BOARD! I'm not kidding, the base for my terrains has been the hardest thing to nail. Everyone kept telling me to use plasticard and foam, but they are either too light or are too expensive. I'm definitely going to try that out, especially to make a modular board.

If you can’t find caulking, I did something real similar with some pva glue and a bunch of baking soda mixed in. If you catch it half-dry you can do some real nice tiny stalagmites and textures too

The big difference is that the latex caulking remains flexible which makes it very durable.

great video. Really like the push towards family inclusion and the shout out to playing D&D with your daughter. Thats always a goal of mine, encourage and include my kids in the hobby. This technique could be pushed to make walls, rooms, traps, etc. Hot glue could be used to make more blobby formations. Great video as usual. Please note: Alex caulk has deceptive/contradictory labels. Recently I purchased some that says that it can be painted after 30 minutes, meanwhile in the small print under drying time the label says that the product can take 7 to 14 days. read the small print before purchasing their products.
@BlackMagicCraftOfficial4 жыл бұрын
My dude, just paint it right away. Mix paint right into it. This is for terrain, not for renovations. Even then you can absolutely paint it within a few hours, the time for full cure is irrelevant (source was a gold award winning contractor for over a decade). Hell read the label of mod podge, it actually takes weeks to cure, but that doesn't stop us from moving on to paint once it's dry to the touch.
@DAS-Machina4 жыл бұрын
@@BlackMagicCraftOfficial The caulk I used was barely dry to the touch after 24 hours. And yes I was working on my garage not miniatures. Who knows maybe their formula/manufacturing is better in Canada
@BlackMagicCraftOfficial4 жыл бұрын
Humidity and temperature can play a big role in the curing. But I've NEVER seen Alex Plus stay wet to the touch after more than a few hours, and that's after using literally thousands of tubes during my time as a contractor. I don't know what to tell ya. Weird.
