DreamsUpBalloons, for metal curtain rods, sew the folds as you go along designing and use a glue gun to keep the curtains in place. Others prefer to use a fabric tape or some kind of tape. Love this video- very well explained and demonstrated. Thank you for sharing! :)

Hi When I use a metal rod I hold the fabric in place by using dress pins to the back of the swag. It holds the fabric together just under the rod. If you want to have working curtains. Then you will need to use a double curtain rod. The front rod for the swag. Then the back rod for hanging your working curtains. I hope that all makes sense :-)

Thank you for putting this together. Do you iron the pleats a bit before hanging them so that they keep their shape, or is that a function of the fabric that you are using? Also, when you are calculating the length you need, do you need to a extra for the drape at the top?

What if you have a metal rod how do you hold it in place? and also how do you manage to keep in in place if you have a curtain that need to be functional? that opens and closes everyday?

Great video. I would really like to know how to get the angled edge finish on the tails instead of straight across. I gather the fabric needs to be cut on an angle.

Sharon Yates Hi Sharon I just used a single width of fabric cut with straight square ends. I then hemmed all the sides. The way the tails end up looking tapered is all down to the way the swag is hung over the rod. The tails look tapered when the swag is pulled down. The more you swag the middle, the more tapered the tails look.
