Little tip when using plunge saw.. drop the plunge saw down a couple of millimetres and run it backwards before going for the full cut. Works a treat

Excellent. Can't wait for the next one, custom spec. I'm single so my priorities would definitely be different to a family camper. Shower nah, WC yes etc. Double bed, Nah. Single comfort one yeah. Leave a bit more room for chilling stuff. It's a great venture you're on. I hope the orders keep you in business.

aa tip to prevent the panel edges blowing out is to mark for cutting then before you cut it , use the square and run the line with a new stanley blade, scoring it a couple of times. then use circular saw to the edge of the stanley blade. little trick i was taught as an apprentice. also good for kitchen worktops etc. cheers nice build

Might be worth just checking on the position of the exhaust as the exhaust should be routed out from under the vehicle since carbon monoxide is lighter than air and has the potential to “pool up” on the underside of the vehicle... Great van build btw 👌

Maybe add an external intake vent for your diesel heater under seat volume? Did you fit a ‘quiet’ diesel heater fuel pump? Remember to add proper gas drop vents from the proper gas locker and under the cooker cupboard. Not just drill some holes, but good bug free drop vents.

The Green fuel pipe that’s supplied with a lot of these Heaters is prone to fail. Well documented on You Tube and FB. Not suggesting you’ll experience similar issues but it may be worth buying genuine fuel pipe for future builds. Not expensive but could in the long term have you a lot of potential problems

Hi mate, I’ve got the white nylon piping here but this pipe is thicker than what you normally get with the Chinese diesel heaters and the one in my workshop has been mint with it, fingers crossed 🤞🏻 so far so good. I’ve tested the one in the van several times now too 👍🏻

I hope that I can get my van to be even half that quality! 🙂 To speed up the process of (silicon) caulking (and save the cramping of your hand) - whether for the shower panels or the sikaflexing of windows - have you come across the drill-powered caulking gun attachments (eg made by Tivoly, or DeWalt)? Makes the whole process so much easier and speedier!

Brilliant video, really enjoyed watching that. Been progressing daughter's relay tonight, got CCTV/ 4 cameras fitted so she stays safe. Your diesel heater has got me thinking as I was going down the truma combi route for both heating and water, very pricey tho. Do you find it best to keep heat/ hot water systems separate? Hi Rich there is a couple of pros in that if one fails the other doesn’t, easier fuel to get hold of and def much cheaper 👍🏻 I like the idea of cctv especially for the ladies 👍🏻

Every time I watch I’m engrossed with how you do it all and the tips you provide us. I am thinking of taking out the rear bench seats on my AT van that makes up a bed and getting a raised bed and having some lockers fitted underneath. What wood is best to do that sort of thing, don’t mind painting them so doesn’t have to be a wood finish? Any ideas please. Great vlog, looking forward to new van build

Thanks Tony, the first things you’d need to do is find a good anchor point for your bed frame. If your not worried about the finish then I would still use a light weight ply unfinished they are about £80 a board but well worth it 👍🏻

They do but also come with a £300+ postage cost which is a shame as I’d like to test one of those out. A diesel heater is just easy, cheap and efficient 👍🏻

Your heater should still run when the batteries get as low as 10 volts have you earthed it to the chassis and not the battery.

The only certification it will need is electrical safety and gas safety, which it will come with both 👍🏻

I live in France and the regulations for converting a van into a camper van are overwhelming. Gas, water, electric and ventilation need to be checked. And if you add furniture, cupboards etc these have to be drawn up, for example dimensions from and above axles, how far from doors etc and submitted to DREAL for inspection and approval. The bureaucracy paper trail is endless!

As it should be, you could be sleeping in a bomb! Correct wiring diameters, types, where the batteries are located v inverters etc, gas installations, burn speed of furniture and fittings should all be regulated and I expect will be soon.
