How to make Assail your main weapon in Darktide (2024)

I just want to note that I didn't know Assail was still popular in the lower difficulties. I can understand why: even without optimizing it the way I do in the build Assail is quite powerful in Herecy and lower. Let your mind be at ease, for I have non Psyker builds on my channel to help you out!

Your typical assail build, I pref to run it with purgatus, makes you able to do some nasty stuff, like assailing to 80-100 peril, bring out the staff full charge apply max stacks then shriek for 21-22 stacks, killing anything. Then swap to your force sword or dueling sword and stack up uncanny strike to 5. Watching those 21-22 soulblaze stacks demolish that crusher patrol. Good shit

I made this build/video because Assail is extremely rare in Auric Damnation, yet after adding DD I'm doing insanely well in this difficulty. I'm also excited to find a role for the Fanning Revolver

hey dude wanted to let you know ive been using this exact build for around 3 weeks or so and i get consistent 450k to 700k damage and can clutch easily, only difference is the melee weapon i use the mk4 dueling sword, helps with carapace, so thank you man its my favorite build so far

I know you love that bromentum axe (also tried your vet build), but I'm pretty sure that using the MK IV dueling sword is the better option here, just for the higher crit chance. Also insane horde clear with DD, no real need for bromentum. Apart from that, great build

Thank you for trying my builds. I think it's a comfort thing for me, the Reshaad Axe with with BM is such a zero thought involved horde clearer/space maker. 100% the mk 4 DS will likely get more done but I'm rarely in melee when I'm playing this

Really? actualy gotta remind myself from time to time that I'm not a zealot when playing with assail. Pump up that peril and then get stuck in with that sweet sweet MK IV blender farming crits for days. Played 5 damnation games today with the build, all top of the scoreboard (damnation pug), so this really is a step up from my old assail build @@vicidplays2088

yo i think that end talent for disrupt destiny only gives 2 stacks on weakspot hit IF its a marked target.. I think it would be rather op to gain all your stacks from weakspots from anyone.

Either I explained it wrong, or the description is incorrect. When you kill a MARKED target with a weakspot hit then you get 3 stacks. 1 from killing it and 2 from killing it with a weakspot hit

This build still works, the changes to the tree really helped - I think the main thing with the new tree for me was going for the 5% crit aura and also getting the skill that increases cleave at high peril - this will make your shards hit many more targets.

Disrupt Destiny is a bit annoying for me, would the left side keystone do better for overall damage?

It gives 24% base damage with 6 stacks but DD at 15 stacks gives 15% damage + the extra crit and weakspot damage. I thought DD would be annoying too - but with Assail it's very easy to maintain + in a pinch you can ult on a blue target. Even a light tick of soulfire will refresh your stacks

DD has incredible situational awareness. The times it highlights a lone gunner or other left over enemy is amazing. Preventing chip damage to the team or myself. The burst of toughness recovery on killing DD is amazing for sustain in hordes when melee is also amazing. It takes getting used to but give it a chance. One you get used to just right clicking an assail at a DD every once in awhile it almost never falls off and in a horde gets max stacks very fast.

Sorry it isn't clear in the video. Gun is Crutian Roulette and Handcannon. It also has +Carapace and +Weakspot perks though I think that second perk would be better off being unyealding for boss or maybe +10 vs elites.

Im sorry but shards just completely fall off in dps on damnation 5. Its good for leveling but you are better off with the mass cc and a voidstrike Kicked out so many shard psykers when pushing hm twins for running this build. Its pretty useless with a veteran in the group
