Hi Virgie, Hmmm. I always thought that memory wire was memory wire but maybe there is a slight difference in gauge. I got mine from Darice and you can find it on Consumer Crafts website. Also, you need to have really strong hands to pull this off. The wire is pretty tough to turn. I hope that helps. Vicki

You said not to use a flush cutter but you never named the type of cutter you *did* use. It looks like a front-nose cutter. Beadalon and Vouiu both make specialty cutters for memory wire. Also, it seems that to make perfectly circular smaller hoops, you must cut equal amounts from both end of the original loop.

I lost an earring. Just costume jewelry but it was my favorite. I want to make an earring to match. Where do you like to purchase beads and memory wire? How does the gold and silver hold up over time? Thank you!!!
@VickiODellTheCreativeGoddess

+resourcefulgirl I find it holds up pretty well. Beadalon makes the best memory wire. It just LOOKS better. Beads I get from a variety of sources. Local crafts stores, and shows. I think FireMountain Gems is having a sale right now so maybe check with them. I hope that helps. :)

Why must you use memory wire? It seems as if this technique will work with half-hard craft wire, too.

Please tell me what type of memory wire this is because the kind that I get from Michaels is really thick and I followed this step by step but it didn't come out like yours. Mine came out a metal mess.
