I use a NI S61 MKII, but I just wish they would update their Maschine software to be a more complete DAW as it has huge potential. Until then its FLS and Ableton. Reaper too when I have the patience.

Not gonna lie the only thing is your sample game in the playlist. I just drag the tempo up or down until it match the grid and tempo. Then I'll use the timer to snap it to grid perfectly and turn on Auto on the sampler keeping the same note. I can now change the tempo without changing the sound and tempo of the sample.

In this video I saw that he said @37:06 'we are playing 11ths as the base.' Can someone please help me to understand what he's referring to and why he called the bass notes 11ths? I saw in a previous video busy made he said that when he's talking in suffix he is referring to the number of note on the scale and not chord codes, but I'm very confused as he is not going off a scale.
@scurity86982 жыл бұрын
an eleven is a perfect fourth but an octave higher. A ninth is a major second but an octave higher than the root. C (root) E (third) G (fifth) B (seventh) D (ninth, D is the second in the key of C but this note is played an octave above)) and finally F (13th) an easier way to explain it might be, just keep increasing the ‘number’ after you complete the whole scale. for example: C(1) D(2) E(3) … C(8) D(9) E (10) F(11) hope that helps.
@AutPen382 жыл бұрын
I'll give an example in A minor. If you just used triads, an A minor chord would be A, C, E (1st, 3rd and 5th) and while you'd usually put A (the first) in the bass, you can also invert the chord and put C or E at the bottom. If you're using an 11th chord (A C E G B D), you'd usually have the A in the bass, but you can also invert it and put the D (the 11th) down there.
@bobjames7852 жыл бұрын
@@AutPen38 why is D referred to as the eleventh note on the scale?
@AutPen382 жыл бұрын
@@bobjames785 In the key of A minor, the basic scale is A B C D E F G but it continues in the same order in the next octave above. Strictly speaking, D is the *fourth* note of the A minor scale (A B C *D*), but if you continue the scale up the keyboard, the D appears again as the 11th note overall. e.g. In the two-octave sequence A B C D E F G A B C D E F G, D appears in 4th position and 11th. When you play an A minor 11th chord, you'd typically play it as A C E G B D, which is a pattern of 1-3-5-7-9-11. If you tried playing the lower D (the fourth) instead of the 11th, the chord would be made of A C D E G B (1-3-4-5-7-9), but the C, D, and E (3-4-5) being next to each other would cause some dissonance. Hence we typically spread the notes out when playing extensions of basic major and minor triads and play the 2nd and 4th in the next octave up which makes them a 9th and 11th. i.e. If we had an A minor triad (A C E, 1-3-5) and wanted to embellish it with a D (the 4th note of the scale), we'd either use one down below (D A C E) or in the next octave up (A C E D - 1-3-5-11).
