How to Make Black, Navy, Crimson, Maroon, & Purple Icing (Part Two: Mixing Difficult Icing Colors)

Mixing dark shades of icing can be VERY tricky! If you’re searching for help in this area, check out this video tutorial for some tips on getting a nice shade of black, navy, crimson, maroon, and purple. There are SO many different hues within these color families, so I hope you find something you can use here. Hi there! How long did you have to let the maroon sit before it got that nice, dark shade?

Hi!! Honestly, it didn’t sit for too long. It maybe sat for an hour or two before I noticed it deepening? Many decorators let their icing sit over night to deepen, but it deepens pretty fast, in my opinion! I pretty much use AmeriColor for my gel coloring. Other brands may be different, too. I hope this helped! 😊
