You’re very welcome! If you’re looking for a darker sage green, I would add a little forest green to your avocado/wedgewood mixture. If you’re looking for a more sage gray color, I would add some slate or a SMIDGE (like a pin prick) of black little by little. Hope this helps!

How Long does it Take until it is completely dry?
@homegirlcookies88888 ай бұрын
There are several different factors that can affect the drying process such as climate in your area, etc, but I usually leave my flooded cookies out over night to dry. 😊 The icing acts as a blanket to keep the cookie from drying out, so it’ll be just fine under the air circulation as it dries.

@homegirlcookies88889 ай бұрын
So sorry to hear that! Piping over a crusted over base is always the top way to avoid craters, but this has been the second best thing for me, lol! I have to almost destroy the area where I intend to fill in with icing, though, instead of just simply poking a few holes if the base is fully dry. I know it’s frustrating! 😩

Great info but I'm surprised your cookies stay fresh for a long period. Celo bags are breathable so air gets in them very easily. I use poly bags to avoid that and truly make them airtight.

@homegirlcookies888810 ай бұрын
Thank you! The base is super red with some burgundy and eggplant added in to the mix! I add corn syrup to my icing which helps with the shine, but doesn’t make it incredibly shiny. 😊 Honestly, it might be because it was still a bit wet. However, I think adding the texture to the pumpkin gave it an extra kick for sure! 😊

So fun to take a tour of your cookie room! I like the efficient ways you save trips to the kitchen (i.e. the little pot trash can!). Question: Do you bag and heat seal every cookie? If a customer doesn't want their cookies bagged, do you just put one (cottage law) ingredient/info sticker on the box? Love your "homegirl" sign, too! Great room! Lesa (Indiana)
@homegirlcookies8888 Жыл бұрын
Hey there, Lesa! Thanks for your comment and sweet words! 😊 Outside of any drop cookie I bake with delicate icing (bagging will ruin the icing), I heat seal every single cookie! If I have a customer requesting no packaging, I try my best to talk them into it and stress how much fresher and more protected the cookies will be if sealed. Huge benefits! They always change their mind! I tell them that they can always cut the cookie out of the package when they are ready to be displayed at their event if desired, but they will always leave my hands sealed for freshness. 😊 For the drop cookies with delicate icing I cannot package, I will arrange those in a cute bakery box on top of some grease proof parchment and adhere my label to the bottom of the box. I hope this helps! 😊

Is it possible to create your design using a silk stencil, then outline your design & flood?
@homegirlcookies8888 Жыл бұрын
Do you mean, for example, to scrape on “love” using a silk screen stencil, then pipe over it for the puff? You can do that! Just follow the lines carefully as you do the top trace. 😊 However, just in case, I would use the hole poking method before you flood the puff areas to avoid craters. The hole poking method is (now) the second best thing to do to avoid craters, in my opinion. I have an updated crater video I posted a week ago that may help. I’ll try to link it above for you now!

Hi! Loved this. One question…have you ever tried poking holes in the one that dried overnight before adding the puffed lettering? I’ve seen it done and I wonder if holes or doing the squiggle line before filling or both would be better? If that makes sense? TIA!
@homegirlcookies8888 Жыл бұрын
Hello! Thanks so much for the comment. It’s so funny you ask this question, because I JUST uploaded an updated crater video on the hole poking method! It my opinion, it’s now the second best crater preventing method! Obviously, it’s best to pipe details on a crusted base but, when you have to do it on a completely dry base, hole poking is THE way to go. You can find more information on it at the link below to my tutorial. I hope it helps! ❤️ kzbin.info/www/bejne/pKq8hWipbbqLoZo

Could I use alcohol instead of water? Would that help with drying?
@homegirlcookies8888 Жыл бұрын
You can totally use Vodka or Everclear instead of water. It will evaporate much quicker, so you may have to work a little faster as you paint, lol! That’s the only reason I prefer water, but alcohol is totally fine, too. It’s just preference! 😊
