@Loafusbreadmyre4 жыл бұрын
That is, in all honesty, the tiniest, least useful kite shield I’ve ever seen then. Good shield, it works and it’s smart, but like, a kite shield is supposed to be waaaaay bigger, and gripped much differently. Kite shields are meant to cover lots of the body, without the weight of “tower” shields. This is a little baby kite shield. Works more like an oddly shaped heater shield if you ask me

loaf Bread it seems like. The point of this shield is to extend the punch while adding weight and power. While still being able to defend axes and swords.
@Loafusbreadmyre4 жыл бұрын
@@the_worst_of_friends924 I know, all I'm saying is if it was a kite shield, It'd be much larger, with more body coverage, and meant specifically to take hits while you use a separate weapon. This is more of a brawler weapon, which can act as a fairly good blocking method as well

ELI! There is a semi-light weight sheet metal material called “Titanium 6-4.” It is Titanium with added percentages of Aluminum and Vanadium respectively. I have found even a sheet as thin as less than one quarter inch can stop or deflect a .45 caliber CORBON hollow head round. A sheet of this on the face of the shield would make it bulletproof against pistol fire, whilst keeping the weight low; snazzy. Excellent work as always, magnificent Art!
@dergroebiertrinkendebar5627 жыл бұрын
While Training you should try to protect your right arm with your shield, You are extending out way too far, that way your arm is an easy target. instead of a static block, you wanna move the block and strike at the same speed, which is the reason for a lighter, more maneuverable shield. just a suggestion.

A shield is usually designed for bashing though. But since a shield bash is quite slow you can't really make it a main feature. Kite shields have a sharp bottom for ramming through the weak spots in downed enemies' armor though, but that was only useful for well-armored knights. It also covers your side as you strike and might block some arrows, not that a plate-clad knight really needs to fear those. Round shields are much better for arrows and better for covering your side as you strike, good to have when your armor isn't as hard as plate. Also you can hit hard as fuck with it. It's slow though. The buckler is the real bashing shield as it's light and quick with enough force to stun even armored opponents. Doesn't cover your side but it has some protective use since it can cover your sword-hand. Useless against arrows though, it's a specialized dueling weapon. Also the name for buckler literally originates from the old Germanic word for "bashing". So yeah you're kinda trying to reinvent the wheel but all in good fun
@cobes115 жыл бұрын
You want real fun? I remade this shield except instead of a boss (since kit shields did not typically have bosses) I added a Spartan Level III+ swimmers fit armor plate. www.spartanarmorsystems.com/ar650-armaply-swimmers-cut-body-armor-set-of-two/ THIS is a shield worth having :) I am also almost done with making my first arming sword, so I will have a fully functional self-made shield and sword.

Here is something to consider for future shield builds, rawhide, or its equivalent, if you can find it for cheap (I get you are not planning on getting into a fight with these). Rawhide was placed on both sides of the wood, sandwiching it, to prevent the wood from splitting should a projectile; arrow, bolt, maybe javelin, should pierce it. The last thing you want is for your shield to take a broadhead and split into pieces in the middle of a fight. The stuff is thin enough that it is transparent so paint jobs and designs can still be seen, though not as clearly (this ain't plastic wrap). Anyways not sure if you can find some in your area cheap, maybe ask local hunters to sell you some. Just a thought on making them last longer without investing in really expensive materials. Love your content hope everything works out for you and you can keep doing what you seem to love to do. God bless

Actually, Bucklers where rarely used in actual combat, being preferred to be used in duels or sport, and used in conjunction with a light sword such as a rapier. Not only that, but bucklers are used in a unique manor, a completely different way to conventional shields, a way that is not conducive to be used in actual battle. If one was to use a buckler in combat, then anyone with a heavy weapon would either A. break your wrist as the buckler is held by a handle, and lack any support, B. Deflect the blow around it to either the face, arm, neck, well, anywhere but away from the body.

Oh ma gawd! You gave me the inspiration for somethin awesome. This shield had me pumped enough, that I've watched it 13 times, and the last 5 times, I have had the nagging thought in the back of my mind. In the " Stab Proof armor" Video he pointed out that a hard steel surface that would deflect a blade can be bad, since al they have to do is swing hard enough and it would deflect around to find a weak spot. A machete swung at the angle iron of the shield could end up with the blade getting deflected toward your shoulder or bicep, of course, worse things could happen with certain circumstances(Deflect into the top of your skull if you raise the shield up point first to protect from a downward swing. But Hear me out for another moment, inch thick oak plywood for base, Beautiful, Polypropylene buckler for a boss BRILLIANT, but replace the angle iron, with 1/4-1/2 inch thick bamboo or some other dense hardwood, cut to 1 inch wide(or whatever width the thickness of the shield you make is)then add a layer of thick rawhide or leather, in front of the bamboo(providing a softer medium that will catch rather than deflect a blade) Secure those layers to the edge of the shield with 1/4 inch steel rivets, be it nails, bolts, or actual pop rivets. Any blade that has enough force behind it to push past the raw hide layer, and somehow deflects against the bamboo or hardwood, would get caught dead in it's tracks by the quarter inch rivet, plus, particularly if you use bolts for the rivet you get a nasty contact point for punching with right? Man I hope you see this, I have the know how, but sadly not the workspace or tools to do projects larger than machete maintenance (I literally just have a couple files, knives and whetstones at the moment) and I would love to see this idea come to life, before the time that I will be able to make it myself, which is far in the future.

Ok so I was thinking (read this) You need money because every build cost money and all of that. Can’t you start selling your builds? Thoose you use for your daily life like the bench for your PC are something you would keep, but the wepons. If a subbscriber can purchase an exclusive wepon that you have made there are a bigger chance you will make money then just straight out aksing for it. If you sold them for a bit more then they cost to make for example this shield for 150$ I am pretty sure someone would buy it. That would hjelp you with your problem as Well as make subbscribers happy. Sell them either on your webside or on another place (doesn’t matter). The wepon would be exclusive for that person only so to sell them for more then their price to make, are very easy to do. Ps. LIKE SO HE WILL SE THIS and sorry for my bad English

U know what would make this thing look even better? First, draw a line 1 or 2 inches away from the bust at the long part and keep curving around it until you get around about a 200 to 220 degree angle going around the bust, facing the longer end of the shield. You may notice that it doesn't go all the way to the edge so just go in a straight line until you do. Then cut it and reattach it but with some bars or something in between the two pieces so they have a spaced out effect to each other and you can add to it by spacing them out more, add a more jagged/spiked affect to it, putting random, broken, bits of wood in the space, and/or see-though, coloured plastic in it.
