How to make Breakcore in Renoise: Episode 2, How to structure a break chop (The kick and the snare)

Hey there! this is going to be the beginning of a mini series I'll be doing explaining how to make breakcore within Renoise.
In this video i demonstrate some basic break chopping workflow, and try and explain the theory of how to structure a break chop, with the importance of the kick and snare, alongside the use of the open and closed hats within the break.

Very cool although I would recommend beginners to do something simpler at first before even thinking of approaching breakcore.

Yeaaa that’s true. I think I kind of rushed it too, but also I feel as tho the nature of breakcore is complex so it’s hard to do it on simple terms if you catch my drift. The point I try make is, you can’t learn in just one step, it’s a process and something learnt from trial and error. This video I wanted to serve as a study for people to look back and forth from and see if they can learn stuff from the demonstrations and stuff. Hopefully it’s helpful to people (maybe am bad at teaching tho lol oops)

yeah when I started on renoise (gonna ignore the fact I gave up on it..) I made a simple hardcore track first, just 4 on the floor hard kicks with a simple amen loop and open hats. great starter, especially if you eventually want to get into Breakcore (since it's a subgenre)

Have you ever made a song in openmpt? I haven't found a proper breakcore tutorial with it (and also cause i can't afford renoise lol)

I haven’t I’m afraid, openmpt seems cool though, and I’m guessing it’s like other trackers. I’d say try and apply similar principals but translate them into openmpt’s ways.

oi Arcade, foudn you off GLUEUE and chucked you a sub too cos your one of the first people to show 'oi, this math program makes music' I havnt been able to do anythihng nice in trackers cos I couldnt understand it. cheers for showing some more light on this. cheers bud. i did this in ableton using its live recording to cut parts to make a song, didnt finish it an lost the ableton file - kzbin.info/www/bejne/fKLTgYBpaZl8hLs

Yea learning trackers takes time, especially if you are used to over DAWs, they are fun tho! So if you enjoy it like I do I’m sure you’ll learn loads as u go
