The shaft key should be made of a softer material than the shaft itself so if anything does go wrong the key shears and doesn't mess up the shaft. You can buy shaft keys online for cheap that way you don't have to guess if it will be the right material and so you can have extras incase they break.

Springs are too hard... Softer springs will make it feel more competent at speed.
