How to Make Cannabutter to Celebrate 4/20 At Home

Monday, April 20, was supposed to be the most epic 4/20 of our lifetime: the once-in-a-century date on which 4/20 can refer to either the day of the month or the year. But the spread of Covid-19, which has grown to more than 2.1 million cases and 140,000 deaths, 4/20/20 will be a more subdued day than I anticipated.
The 4/20/20 get-together I envisioned, where clouds of cannabis smoke float gently across Hippy Hill in the Bay Area-where I live-is no longer possible. San Francisco Mayor London Breed even sent out a warning on Twitter to whomever was planning to venture out during the shelter-in-place order: If you’re caught celebrating outdoors with others, you will be arrested. That means this holy day for all cannasseurs will have to spent in the comfort of your home-and there are definitely worse things.
When life give you lemons, make some lemonade-or in this case, cannabis-infused butter (aka cannabutter) to bake some delicious canna-treats.

It needs to be mentioned that when you use regular butter it will separate you only get a 75% return. Which means if you want a full stick of butter to make say a Betty crocker quick cookies. You need one and a quarter sticks of butter then follow all of his directions. Because at the end you will wind up with one stick of butter. For some weird reason no one seems to mention this. Great video though. Unless of course... I missed it and he used lecithin somewhere. 🤣

For me personally, I used to heat mine in a oven or counter top convextion oven. 1. Hest oven to 230°f 2. Break apart herb with fingers 3. Spread out on cookie sheet 4. Heat 30-45 min or until herb is medium brown. Ive found that using a grinder creates a very fine sediment which can throw off the taste of whatever is being infused. If you can, I would definately suggest an infusion machine since it takes out all the guesswork or risk. I've also had a Levo but had issues with the kill switch for the lid, and butter leaking into the insides of the machine itself Because it was bought on ebay, levo wouldn't honor a warranty, so now I'm using one put out by Ardent which I love!

decarb in oven at 235 f for 30 minutes , longer is not better , do NOT use a coffee grinder to bust the bud or it will make everything taste weedy, use a bud buster or your fingers, I use the warming element on my stove it maintains a perfect 135 F , keep a lid on it and heat 4-6 hours some say 8 but I haven't noticed the benefit in the last 30 minutes add 1 cup of water , this will allow the fine particulate to settle while resting in the fridge overnight after cooling, use a paint strainer bag to separate out the bud, cheese cloth is OK but you need multiple layers and lose butter in the cloth

Can I make gummies out of the extract from vape cartridges. Does it take more of that than using the raw buds? I’m wanting to make them a bit stronger than the 100 mg contained in the store bought packages. I have a high tolerance for low grade edibles I’d like to make some that contain at least 50mg per gummie. If so , how much extract would I need. I know it probably depends on the thc % in the cart.

THC molecules bond with fat molecules. Not enough fat molecules present, you waste your flower. You can decarb in the oven, then throw it in a glass container with the coconut oil, oops butter (canna oil infusions produce higher potency, and don't go easily rancid) within a water bath on your coffee maker warming plate.

so i use a quarter ounce per stick of butter. decarb 240 for 240 mins to minimize taste of weed, any hotter will give more weed flavor thats the trick! made about 30k worth of edibles and concidered a wiz in edibles lol. also a infusing macine also helps and keeps things consistant! would love to show pics of all i made. got cookies in the oven now! lol

it depends, you can cook it for a shorter period of time at a higher temp or a longer period of time at a lower temp, ideally 225 for 40ish minutes depending on how old and dry the flower is will do, longer time at a lower temp is better because it preserves everything better

Try purifying your butter before mixing it in with your weed. All you have to do is put a heap of butter in a pot and leave it on medium. It will start to boil and when it does that it starts to separate. You’ll see a heap of froth rise to the top, scrape it all out with a spoon and you’ll be left with butter that won’t shrink on your ass lol

Decarb your weed if you want..then add it to the boiling water and butter..let that cook.. Decarb is not necessary if your cook the water butter concoction in at least 240° ..i would let it cooks for several hours..then strain and refrigerate

Check out CBD and all of the various great CBD products available out there. CBD basically gives you all of the benefits of marijuana without the high/intoxicating effect that makes a lot of people paranoid or even more anxious. But please note that most CBD flowers and tinctures, etc... do contain a small trace amount of THC (no more than 0.3% or less), if you need to take drug tests at work, the THC could very well show up, even if it is the tiniest amount like 0.3% which is the usual amount contained in good and legit CBD products.

no, the way he did it actually kinda sucks. what you want to do is grind the flower coarsly(think grains of rice) and gently crumple a bit of aluminum foil, lay the foil flat over a cookie sheet(the crumpling gives it folds which keep most of the foil elevated from the pan which prevents searing or burning the ground flower), and spread your ground flower over the foil(the thinner and more even the better), and put another non crumpled sheet over top., bake temps and times vary but the general rule is higher temp shorter time and lower temp longer time, longer tie at lower temp is best because it preserves everything better and prevents searing/ burning, 225 degrees for 45 min is generally what I do and check on it every 15 min/ mix it up a bit every so often, finished product should be dry and golden brown tinged also, 20 percent thc flower is 200mg per gram, a stick of butter is 4 oz (half a cup, most box brownie recipes ask for a half cup of oil and you can substitute butter for oil at a 1:1 ratio) thc in mg / # of servings = thc per serving, just infuse the right amount of flower for the thc amount per portion you want with the amount of butter for the recipe and youre good to go

It's only 185 degrees, not even boiling. I did this and didn't even need to use a jar with coins on top but I did it anyway. It's low pressure, no problem. I accidentally let mine go for an extra hour or so and it was still ok
