What template you are talking about? Are you asking cartridge?

That one is the sticky sheet (green) where the construction or cricut paper stuck on. It helps to keep the paper on so that it won’t move. You can get that at the store 3 pack.

I highly doubt if the first generation does that! I have the basic one as well, I use cartridges mostly.

No! It can only cut papers, there are other similar kind cricuts can cut formy and vinyl sheets
