Honestly, to anyone that wants to get into this stuff, the best thing you can do is get a Chinese made plotter in at least a 24” width. You can get models for a couple hundred with free LXi software which is a free version of flexi. I work at a sign and wrap shop and we’ve used a Vinyl Express 24” plotter everyday commercially for going on 8 years. Literally no maintenance needed other than new cutting tips. We mostly use oracal 651 vinyl on it. All the cricut and homeowner grade products are a rip off. Our plotter was like $600 and will last a lifetime. The machine before that was $2500 and required a lot of maintenance.

It worked on my Expression Original...finally. I did not understand that you only want to short the front 2,3,5 pins. I wrapped my foil around the bottom of the card to the back. That locks up the Cricut. I super glued foil on a credit card cut to just the right size. When I figured out it should only be on the front, I just scraped the foil off the back and it started working. Thanks for the hack.

The nice thing is you don't have to use the mat if you're cutting with vinyl you just put it on three three three and I'll cut out without vinyl that's why I love this old machine I have the newer one but it does work if you need something quick and easy!! If you cut out vinyl at 6 and 3/4... It's perfect also you can sharpen your needle with foil! 🇺🇸
@alchemykitchen7772 жыл бұрын
Punching the blade into foil does not sharpen it. It will help remove anything stuck on the blade like glue or glitter, but definitely does not sharpen it.

That one is newer. I have the original Expressions. You need the universal overlay for the key functions. There are 6 function keys on the top left two columns. You can connect to the internet with the USB. You don’t need design space. I use Canva. But if you have your own CAD program, use that. It works. Been doing it for years.

I have over 30 cartridges, so I would never try this... but it's great when someone can figure stuff like this out....
