I make cashew milk all the time in the Vitamix with raw cashews. I don’t soak them nor do I strain them and the milk is just fine. No grittiness at all. I also make cashew creamer for my coffee by adding less water and cashew cream by reducing the water even further. Once again, I never soak or strain and the product is perfectly smooth. Just keep blending in the Vitamix till all trace of the solids are gone.

This is a fascinating video and just watching the process makes me want to make both cashew and almond milk! I like that you can control the liquids viscosity and use the milk as a cream like coconut milk/cream in cooking recipes or reduce it while cooking.

My favorite is oat milk. Very nice. I put a touch of salt, some honey and some coconut oil in there. For me it is awsome. But raw as you make it is very tasty too. Thank you for sharing

Sesame milk is great too. About 1/2 c to 4c water no soaking required if you’re in a rush.

Never tried sesame. We have used hemp and sunflower seeds though.

Don’t put it down the drain .. I just add soaking water into plants or just the grass.. something can use it’s nutrients

If you want to go cheap, you can use a paint strainer bag.

Can I use roasted cashew note to make cashew milk??
@PlantBasedBistro2 ай бұрын
Not really. Needs to be "raw" or it may not work correctly.

Just use the soaking water to give plants a watering, no waste

One question. Why do you have to discard the soaking water then add new water? Is there something in the soaking water that people don't want in their nut milk?
@PlantBasedBistro Жыл бұрын
Well… to be honest? Not sure. I cannot imagine what could be bad about it.

FYI-It doesn't become aquafaba until the chickpeas are cooked.

You didn’t say the ratio of nut to water? 1:4??

Why discard the cashew water? If using distilled or RO water, wont it pull all the good stuff from the nuts and by not consuming that water you're losing those nutrients?
@PlantBasedBistro3 ай бұрын
Honestly... I just heard that, don't really know! Now I have to look it up.

I would soak overnight or boil the cashews for like 15 mins to be safe.
