I would think these tires would work well, but they would have to be raised off the ground or the cold ground will soak right up onto that tire... reason being, the tire is a solid & solids conduct...

When I moved in with my roommate, the guy that used to live here left some tires in the storage area and I do NOT want to pay to remove his trash. So I was looking for ways to utilize the tires. We have at least 3 different cats that roam our area and we have a rat problem, so I thought making a shelter for them would be a great idea. This is simple enough.

I saw parts 1 and 2. Great idea and inexpensive. I have a cat rescue (out-of-my-pocket) for 40+ cats, all from bad situations. I'm in the process of making small houses for each one. I did have an old mobile home for them, but a water pipe burst and damaged it beyond repair. It had a/c and heat. I will definitely make several similar to yours. THANKS for sharing. For people on tight budget, The Dollar Tree sells tarps in auto section.. will help placing on top to prevent water from entering.

Do NOT use tires for shelters, studies have come out finding carcinogens in tires! Tires are legally supposed to be disposed of as a hazardous material, you cannot even just throw them away.

Time stamp:25 seconds. That's the blade I use to cut the thru the tire after I draw the opening and drill 4 holes in the corner so the blade can fit
