Thanks to everyone for the info about bok choi. It has crispy texture so if it's available for you to buy it, it's better to use it than napa (IMO) . If you are vegetarian, you can just use more vegetables such as bell pepper, broccoli and other kinb of mushroom instead of meat stuff. And use vegetable stock instead of chicken stock. It's still super filling :)

Hi Runny, My Girlfriend and I living in Hungary, Central Europe. She is missing Japanese food so much. Unfortunatelly in my country it's hard to get true Japanese ingredients even vegtables. Mostly it's really expensive or fake Chinese/Korean. She is always happyto watch your videos, because at least she can imagine the food that you are cooking. Thank you for making our days happy always, and get well soon. Gabor and Kazue

I've never heard or seen this kind of mushroom before, it is so strange, like a little allien.The dish looks nice, i love the combination of meat and sea food. You are right about the change of our pallet as we get older.I remember traditional dishes from my country that i detested.Once we had ocra cooked in tomato sauce, i packed a small suitcase and i threatened to leave home.Now ocra is my favorite dish.God i miss my mom's cooking.

chingensai is called Shanghai Bok Choi in english and in Chinese, you have to wash it really really thoroughly though because the dirt/sand gets stuck in between the leaves really easily. This seems like something my family would make, except the Quail egg lol

In English the vegetable is called bok choy, or specifically shanghai bok choy. This comes from the Cantonese word which is 白菜. However in Mandarin (and Japanese), that means napa cabbage. We usually call shanghai bok choy 青菜 (qing cai) in Mandarin but there are also other names. Hope this helps :)
@c.faye.9 жыл бұрын

I've never tried bamboo shoot, is the flavor strong? What about the texture? I'm curious!
@haranjung51909 жыл бұрын
It's rather crunchy and has mild flavor, the one Runny-san used has already been boild and cleaned so it has that yellowish color and doesn't smell really strong, fresh bamboo shoots smell just like full grown bamboo trees. We have various kinds of bamboo shoots, pickle ones for fish soup, dried ones for slowcook dishes, boiled ones for stir frying, steam, side dishes, etc. I really love eating them though :)
wow, you are sooo cute & handsome!!! Keep on doing all These recipes in English thank you so much for that...so we can learn all that. Is this recipe Chinse? Can I take a normal egg for this? Thank you.

Another winning recipe! Thanks. I checked on allergies to cherry pollen and found out that fruit trees like cherry and apple have bigger, stickier pollen that doesn't blow around much. Here is a list of trees that are more likely to cause nasal allergies: Ash Aspen, Beech ,Birch, Box elder, Cedar, Cottonwood, Elm, Hickory, Mountain elder, Mulberry, Oak, Pecan, Willow. Most of these trees have a lighter, less sticky pollen that blows around much more freely. You might be allergic to one of these trees that happen to release pollen when the sakura are blooming. So, it may not be the sakura trees making you sick but another tree or some type of grass. Here's the article from which I got this information - www.webmd.com/allergies/tree-pollen-allergy. Take care and enjoy the beautiful sakura.
