A tip I heard recently was replacing the pin back on your brooches with magnets, that way you don't have to worry and them leaving holes in your clothes. I though it was a genius idea because I have some vintage brooches from my grandmother that I am always too afraid to wear because I'm worried they will damage my sweaters and jackets. The magnets also mean you can wear the brooches with fabrics you wouldn't normally be able to such as leather.

Hi amie! Great that you post so often now! My best styling tip is to make sure to adapt the colors of the clothes to the weather and season. Bright colors in nice weather in spring and summer and more intense darker colors during autumn and winter make such a difference. You should also be very careful when combining dark colors with light colors because very often it is not possible to combine nicely.

A great video. I totally agree with the add one luxury item tip. I love luxury bags but they are not always appropriate. The things I like to add are scarves in luxury fabrics such as cashmere or silk in winter. Fine jewellery in summer always looks luxurious but needn’t be overly expensive when you know where to look. Real pearls and coloured gemstones are so refined but you can buy them for less than a Chanel brooch or a pair of Dior earrings and the quality is so much better.

great video! I love high/ low, I will wear nice leather loafers and a designer bag with 30$ jeans and a button down tunic it elevates the entire outfit. Something with a collar or cuff makes a big difference in elevating a look. simple things I never used to think of are making a big impact and I find I'm treated more seriously or with more respect when Ive followed these tips. Maybe its bc I look like I know what im doing so I have more confidence in general.

All such good tips! I do have to speak up for my beloved linen shirts though! 😘Of course this is all subjective, and I totally agree that wrinkles generally make an outfit look less expensive. My one exception is the linen shirt. I think it's all about the other pieces paired with an inevitably wrinkled linen shirt that keep the look elevated and classy. That said, I would absolutely hang up all t-shirts if I had the closet space because I hate wrinkled white t-shirts 🙈😂

Oh I'm sorry, it's a few years old so not available any more! It's from New Look though which is stocked on ASOS (in case you're not from the UK and aren't familiar with the brand!). My tip is to always reinforce buttons and care for the seams of the clothes, cutting excess threads. These little details prevent your outfit to look sloppy or cheap… imagine if you’re at work, then one of your blazer’s button falls off! Noooo

Avoid anything that needs alterations to the shoulders, this often costs much more than the coat or blazer did. This is problem for me, my shoulders are on the narrow side.

I agree with you on not washing your clothes too often. I only wash mine after at least 2 wears but of course if they get dirty on the first wear I'll definitely wash them. I do spot clean too and I hand wash those made of delicate fabrics. Due to this practice, I have managed to prolong my beloved dresses/clothing items for 20+ years. I still own the romper that I wore on my first date with my hubby 29 years ago. One may think that I am keeping it for sentimental values. Well that's only partly true. I am still wearing the romper till this day (in case you're wondering, yes it still fits me!) 🙂🙂

I think that the one luxury item does work, especially when paired with staple pieces. Most people seeing your outfit will be drawn to the luxury belt and recognize it as being high-quality and then assume that the entire outfit is luxury.

Sizing is a big one, many women wear their clothes too much tight, because they don’t want to admit they’re a size larger. Size labels are almost meaningless, they’re just a starting point. All clothes look more expensive if they have a bit of ease in the fit, and they’re much more flattering. If there are horizontal creases, it’s too small, size up one. Wearing too-small clothes is a sure way to look fatter than you are.
@SustainablyStylish2 жыл бұрын
Great video! I only differ in perspective when it comes to fabric choice of linen. I think linen is one of the best fabrics out there (including hemp). It wrinkles but still look so expensive and beautiful despite the nature of the fabric.

My tip for drying hand washed items is Lay a towel flat on the bench, lay the garment flat on the towel, gently fold or roll the towel. Swap out the wet towels until the garment is dry enough and enough “weight” has been removed to hang the garment without stretching.

I get most of my clothes from H&M, but buy higher-quality leather shoes and accessories. If in classic styles, these can last a lifetime. I buy a leather belt about once a year, this fall I ordered a burgundy one. If done gradually, it’s an affordable way to really improve outfits made of high street clothing. Only certain colors are available each season, but I have my neutrals and basics, like navy, covered. I also buy high-quality blazers and coats.
@kimberlyperrotis89622 жыл бұрын
I love pleated midi skirts and have been very happy with H&M’s. I’ve paid a lot more for some that had itchy waistbands and other problems. Unfortunately, they have reduced their color and pattern selection this fall.

I've always loved coming up with ideas for this and was especially something I spent a lot of time thinking about as a poor student. I find wearing different textures also elevates a look. (e.g. cashmere knit + pleated skirt). Footwear makes a big impact on how the outfit comes across. Sticking to natural fibres and materials - anything too plastic-y or obviously polyester looks less expensive. The quality of hardware on accessories also makes a difference. Finally, something that's not visual but can work in person: wearing an expensive scent (not cheap to buy either but much more affordable than a designer clothing item!). In these colder months, whenever I wear Chanel's Bois des Iles or Guerlain's Tonka Imperiale I feel like my knitwear just seems more luxurious ;) I think these rich scents just elevate everything.

Amazing tips as usual 😉 for the broche do you think it will make a whole on the clothes. I have read some really bad reviews on it. Also I am 1.60 cm and grow up hearing belts will always divide my body and make me look shorter than I am. How do you suggest me to try before spending a lot on a belt that I may don’t use it? Thanks

You can also clean delicate clothing with a steamer. The steam kills bacteria and odor so you can clean sweaters with a steamer and you don't run the risk of the sweater stretching out and getting out of shape when soaking wet.

Woolite or other inexpensive “delicate” washing detergents are worth purchasing, similar price to regular powder and it does make a difference, I’d never wash cashmere or silk with regular powder. ❌❌❌
@bellathemusicaddict2 жыл бұрын
To add to this, be careful about using wool detergent for silks! Both require different detergents, as they have very different properties.

ohh same but I kind of forgive it because I love it so much haha.
