How To Make Checkerboard Cake!

A checkerboard surprise inside is a fantastic way to add an element of wow to the inside of your cake.🥰 Here are my tips to ensure you see the checkerboard within: ✨It's very important to make an even amount of layers because you need to trade these circles within each other. With an odd number of layers, you'll have three circles with nowhere to go. You can make a checkerboard cake with two layers, but I find it's not as striking as four layers. ✨I personally don't recommend slicing these smaller than 1-in thick because if it gets too thin the pattern can become wonky and difficult to identify. ✨It's very important that the circles you cut within each cake layer are even. This is going to ensure that the squares within your cake will be even once you cut it. If one is super big and one super small, the pattern won't line up correctly. ✨And finally don't forget to alternate the cake layers when stacking!
