thank you so much, I am an aspiring producer and I have always had problems with making chords to fit my melody. Your channel has helped me so so much, thank you so much.
@esoteric6178

voice leading is a great way to ensure your chords will fit and sound smooth. You can avoid sounding generic by using inversions in the notes which arent leading and by using suspended chords instead of just using the regular chords you can naturally lead to. So in other words you can use a chord that wouldnt normally lead into another by making it or the following chord a suspended minor or major.

Distort a supersaw and use a new instance of the plugin for every note that is played simultaneously, that way the notes don't interact with each other and don't distort each other and voila you have the headhunterz chords :D

a musical ear is the foundation of music. they just invented chords, scales etc, so they can document what they hear because in early days there is no way that they can record what they feel thru music. but now it's a different era, we can do music from our mind straight to a recorded output without even touching a traditional instruments because of computer technology. so it's gift to have a good hearing and a knowledge of computers.

@@retsmej I disagree. Writing/typing down the notes helps you keep in mind the whole structure and motifs. Its like writing down a story in a text editor as opposed to a speach-to-word program. Its good for regular takes yes, but good quality music takes good effort.

Hi Zen World, I'm late so someone else probably already said this, but what you were describing was not Voice Leading. Voice Leading is the procession throughout a progression involving the least amount of movement. For example going from C major to F major using voice leading would be C, E, G, to C, F, A. Notice how F isn't in the bass. Also, when you were talking about the chords, you would say things like D# when you meant E flat. Although technically by sound they are the same "note", it would be the incorrect enharmonic spelling to say D# in this case. G minor has two flats in it's key, B flat and E flat. I'm not saying this to poke holes or make fun. I truly think you should learn about this concepts since they would be wonderful for aspiring producers to learn on your platform.

I know you have talked about reverse engineering presets to learn a more methodical way for sound design. It would be great if you could show how to reverse engineer melodies/chords so that we have a more methodical way to make melodies. We would know what makes something catchy. Just what are we looking for in the melodies. I'm not one of those people that can randomly put in midi or "play from the heart" and sound good.
