Darlene Michaud hi darling do you think those beads would stand up in Florida weather with all the humidity of that we have down here

Have you ever used wrapping paper. I have three grandkids that I watch and thought for the first time it might be easier. Or is the magazine sheet the best bet for a newbie.

The beads get quite hard if you glaze them with mod podge. They can take the humidity. And I can't remember for sure if I have tried wrapping paper. Very good chance I have. lol I have even used toilet paper! (clean, lol). There is actually a round bead that can be made with toilet paper or tissues. Anyway, the best paper to start with is anything not too thick. Magazine, newsprint, copy paper... those are all good. Junk mail is awesome too, again, as long as it's not card stock or super glossy as that slides too much. And don't use construction paper. I find that is very resistant to the glue. Tough to work with.

Diana Schenko I tried it with Dallas Cowboy wrapping paper for my cousin, she is a huge fan. I'm making her a multilayered necklace, and bracelet that will also have star, football, and helmet charms. But the wrapping paper was good. A little hard to cut because I wasn't on a firm surface, and they were my second attempt to make beads. But they look amazing.

And here I thought I was being so smart. I found the floral blocks at Dollar Tree and picked up a 2 pk of toothpicks and thought that would be an awesome was to dry my beads. I thought I had an original idea. Lol. But it does work wonderfully. I enjoyed the video and I'll have to try this out soon.

Hey Darlene! I love your videos and have been watching you for a few months now. Watching your videos helps me relax and it helps me calm down. Thank you so much! I understand how you feel about getting things in the mail, but I was wondering if you would accept doodled pages so you can use them for beads? I'm not sure if you have said anything about this in a video. I doodle or paint random things to help me relax and concentrate on my life and so I thought maybe you would want the doodles for your beads? If not, I completely understand! Much love to you and your mother! And thank you for helping me on a daily basis!

I'm going to pass on that only because I have stacks and stacks and stacks of paper here that I will never turn into beads. I can't even toss out junk mail due to my hoarding tendencies and my bead obsession. And with Skylar here this summer, I'm sure I'll there will be painted paper galore. She loves to make paint so I use it up as she makes it. lol Thank you for the offer, but I'll pass. I would probably never get around to using it. But if you don't mind taking that chance, you could send it. You never know, I might be able to use it. It's not that I would feel uncomfortable receiving it. I just don't want to disappoint you if I don't use it.

Darlene Michaud it would be awesome to donate to a senior living facility, because even if they don't make beads, they make cards, and other crafts. I suggest calling the activity directors in your area. Even a senior center.

I think my grand kids would love doing this . could u tell me how you make the shaving cream paint that you use ???? thanks Marion
@darlene.michaud7 жыл бұрын
I hope to have Skylar make the paint on video, but it's very easy. A squirt of shaving cream and a squirt of glue. Add food coloring or a bit of any other paint to color the shaving cream paint. If you use that paint and don't flatten it out on the paper, it will dry puffy. Or you can just flatten it while painting and it's like regular paint. Very fun to make!

Thank you Darlene :). I asked in other vid what hodge podge was.... I see it's modpodge lol. Is it a glue or glaze or both? x
@darlene.michaud7 жыл бұрын
Quite sure I replied to your hodge podge question. lol Yes, it's Mod Podge and it's both a glue and a sealer. Comes in matte, gloss, super gloss and a few others.
