Grew up with both. As I’ve gotten older and the gatherings got smaller, more recent years it’s just been turkey. Then this year now that the family is bigger, we’re back to turkey and ham.

I was raised in Albuquerque, NM and we had both turkey and ham. My husband is from Northern NM they just ate turkey so anything I do that's different he blames it on Albuquerque habits. Lol now all his side loves that I make ham and we eat more ham than the turkey. Go figure!

My Grandma was from Santa Fe NM and I remember she always made turkey then occasionally a ham and I loved both, her ham looked so pretty as she put pineapple rings, cherries in the center of each pineapple ring, then she also pierced the ham all over with cloves, and it’s a tradition we keep, along with all her other traditions which i still make to this day, Natillas, posole, always green/red chile, and her biscochitos are which i love so much, all good food memories with the NM side of the family. 🥰

Yes, that ham is yummy, the go to ham from Costco that if i don’t make a turkey, thats the one, it’s so good! I was also remembering when my Grandma made her ham it looked so pretty too because she’d put pineapple rings all over, and within each pineapple rings center, she put cherries, then she also pierced the ham all over with cloves, and of course used the pineapple juice, and not only did it look pretty, it’s also delicious, old school, and it’s a tradition I still keep. I also remember she’d have extra pineapple juice and make a brown sugar pineapple juice glaze which was so good all over as well, basting her ham last hour of cooking. 😋💕

Looks delicious, with the pineapple, can’t wait to try it this way. The men in our family cook a hog, on the pig cooker, for our Thanksgiving each year. We have a huge extended family and we’ve been doing this for years. Each family member brings a side and we have some special ladies that bring the desserts. Pork is the way we roll. ❤️

Your ham looks really delicious. We make both turkey and ham. It's funny because it's the only days I will eat turkey. Thanksgiving day and the day after and no more the whole year. 😃
