+Vinnie C Hey Vinnie! Of course man, glad you are out and feeling better! If you are thinking about getting into vlogging / online business I have two recommendations to start learning. First, listen to the SmartPassiveIncome Podcast by Pat Flynn. It is free and awesome. I went from making my 1st dollar online in 2011 to making a full time income because of his help. Also, check out the video creators KZbin channel with Tim Schmoyer. He is a great resource for learning about KZbin. Lastly, I'll be coming out with an online course in Q1 of 2015 that I think you'll find helpful. I'll let you know when it's out. Have a great week!

Thanks for sharing this video! I made some coasters with decoupage technique. I sealed the surface with Mod Podge for 4-5 times. Only question I have is that most coasters have a raised ridge on the perimeter to catch condensation from spilling out onto the table. Do these have that problem, or is the material extra absorbent that it's not an issue?

Came here to ask the same thing. I made these over the weekend. Spray sealed them Saturday night and let them cure more than 24 hours. Monday morning, I tested one out with a mug of tea and the mug stuck and damaged the finished when I pulled it off. Are these actually useable?

Hi Pete. Great video! Can you please tell me if Krylon Crystal Clear (Acrylic Coating 1303), would work to seal travertine tiles? After sealing, do you need to bake in an oven, or can the coasters be used after sealing with the spray? Also, are these coasters ok to use with hot/cold beverages? I have been researching many diy coaster projects on KZbin, Pinterest, Google, etc... And many people have problems with the coasters sticking, etc.... Thank you.

Hi! I’ve been making these tiles for awhile now! Unfortunately the packs of travertine tiles I’ve brought from my local hardware store recently have a lot of holes in them... I know that’s part of giving the coaster some “character”- but the last 3 packs I’ve bought had so many holes that it messed up a lot of the pictures I put on them... Do you know how or what to use to fill in the holes on these type of tiles to where they will still be a durable coaster??
@DIYPETE6 жыл бұрын
Hi! You might experiment in filing some of the holes with grout. Cheers!

Dear Pete: I made some of these coasters for some kids families I coach as gifts with our team label on them. Couple of questions:1) I love the type of tile you use because it has a great look to it. I tried filing the imperfections in the tile with Mod Podge but it seems like it doesn't really get in the cracks and it would take 5-6 coats to probably level them out. Is there something else I could use or should a I just go get flat tiles and call it a day?2) The bigger problem and I followed your steps exactly and used the exact materials you used is that the when I apply the spray sealer it dries like in video. Then I apply for tiny felt pads to the bottom side. So after letting them dry (now for days at a time after applying several sealer coats) I had them stacked and was about to give them as gifts. Well when I looked them over one last time the felt pads on bottom of coasters had left 4 permanent felt marks on each of the coasters. So I redid the sealer step again let it dry for a week and sadly 4 more felt spots ended up on the coasters when I stacked them. Is there something else I can use to stop this from happening? I looked at maybe getting epoxy resin but the spray stuff is so much easier to use if it actually hardened and I didn't get those felt marks. Spray resin out there I could use?Any feedback you could provide with links to materials would be greatly appreciated.
@DIYPETE7 жыл бұрын
Hi J, great to hear from you! If you want to fill the voids you could fill them with grout. I used these because I like the look and the voids didn't cause any issues -- but you could either fill -- or simply buy tiles without them. I haven't had that issue with the marks - did you use the same sealer after the mod podge? Have a good day!
@jgeoghegan17867 жыл бұрын
Yes I used the exact same sealer you used in your videos. Every single time I stack the coasters the same thing happens over and over. I've been just throwing another coat on them which gets rid of the 4 spots but I'm afraid to give these to folks if they're all going to have marks on them. Is there a better sealer out these (price isn't a concern) that hardens fairly solid I could get instead the Rustoleam? Thanks again for your response and if you can think of a good sealer that hardens pretty strong I'd appreciate it.
