So glad to see someone actually wearing gloves when working with resin. I'm shocked how many videos featuring resin where people don't wear any kind of protection. Thank you for sharing this. I've just gotten into working with resin myself and I have become enthralled with "petri dish" videos. LOL

I have made dozens of resin coasters and I have always used clear silicone self adhesive feet for the bottom. They don't slide, leave room under the coaster for air flow so that they geat/cold doesn't transfer to the table and keeps the coaster on the table when you grab your drink! If you have made and used these you know that sweat can create a bond between the glass and the coaster and then you either have a coaster on the glass as you go to get a drink or more likely, the coaster clings just long enough to end up releasing just a few seconds after your glass is away from the table and BAM your coaster is loudly on the floor 🤣! I really like the clear dots when it comes to the alcohol ink ones that have the transparent areas. It allows the light to pass through and the owner can truly appreciate the glass like effect.

Instead of cork on the back, you can use those transparant rubbery kind of bubbles, I don’t know how you call it in English, but it’s selfadhesive.

I have another tip. You can buy at the dollar store clear rubber stoppers that people use for their cupboard doors. That is what I use for the back of my coasters. I glue them on with weld bond which dries clear, they are adhesive but I like to make sure they’re never gonna go anywhere. So if your coasters have clear in them this is just a suggestion. By the way your work is beautiful

I just found this vid of yours. I just got the petri dishes to do the alcohol inks in it. Going to try it for something different than ceramic tile coasters. I use the little round felt pads for my ceramic coasters, and trivets, but I found that ATD uses those clear bumpers for theirs, and I bet this would be great for these type of coasters, and you would be able to still see through it. :D Right now, I'm working on my geode with the apoxie clay that you do. I'm doing your method, and of course giving you credit for my inspiration.

@donnavickjones33

I've made mine.... Buy Sharpie's markers (must be permanent ink). get a box cutter & cut the end, pull out the ink out with pliers (may want 2 use gloves, or ink will get everywhere!)... i cut it in half & put the ink in little plastic containers with lids i purchased from family dollar & labeled with the colors. Add Isopropyl alcohol (must be above 90%). Let sit for 24 hrs. Makes beautiful colors alone or mixed on the coasters, esp with Mica glitter powders

Oh and those white spots you have depending on how deep they are you could sand the whole surface, then just put a thin layer of resin, good as new!

All the resins I use are non-toxic, have no VMOs, I still choose to wear a mask. Once the heat or torch hits that resin, it's now gas or vapor and in the air. I watch Stone Coat videos and they have some of the best resin I have used (I have used Art Resin too), even the creators of that resin use a mask when they apply heat to it. Safety first!!
