Back to basics, in this video we make a true collagraph in that it is only glue on cardboard covered in shellac and the plate is ready to print.

This is amazing. I love your very clear instructions. I’m new at this and you just saved me hours of gluing tiny pieces of cardboard onto my design

You can still cut out and add cardboard to your next plate, all sorts of things can be used.

Thank you for this! Straight into the tutorial without faffing about, which is refreshing. I want to try this but don't have a print press. Any alternatives I could use without spending a fortune?

Here is an option if you can to work on a small scale. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gZfHhXdvhs6YhZo

So amazing, love it. I don't have printing press but have just bought a cold press laminator machine w 14" width, metal machine, two green rollers and adjustment knobs. I have done an intaglio print which turned out well. Next I'll be trying my hand at collagraph. The cold laminator press was only about $129 USD, great for those that don't have access to a press.

Sounds like a great idea, the cost of an etching press is one of the biggest barriers for a printmaker.

If you want to try a small sized paper you could also use a noodle making machine. This works quite well. 😊

hi... awesome! What type of ink do you use please/ Water or oil based?
@snakeartistprints3870 Жыл бұрын
With Shellac you can use both! I have been leaning more towards water based. But sometimes I have noticed that oil can give a sharper, more contrast print.

Awesome! Would this work as a relief print also?

why is the shellac needed? can you go without / is there a cheaper alternative
@SnakeArtist7 ай бұрын
Shellac is cheap and easy to get hold of in my part of the world. An alternative might be thinning out some PVA glue with water and painting it on. You may lose some details that way.

How is Shelack made
@SnakeArtist6 ай бұрын
Shellac flakes mixed with metho, you should be able to find both at a hardware store.

I guess I can use my big shot the same way as an ink press. Bingo!
