love your system even though no plastic bags were evident. It is always great to see the practicalities and I really admire your resourcefulness and methods. Making prints that size without getting ink everywhere is an achievement in itself.

Try making abstract shapes flow in a pleasing, rhythmic and balanced way. Including colour, line, negative space (that is present in this set of prints) and texture. Even just using children's crayons/pencils/felt tips on A4 photocopy paper if you have artistic ability you will produce something interesting. Even if only for pasting into a sketchbook for reference. Without ability (training can only do so much) you will only make a messy scribble..

Its a press but its more physical than mechanical because he doesn't have the equipment. He is working with what he has. I understand. I would've used a cylinder shower rod with added weight. Because it looks like he's having a hard time with equal distribution.

@michellebyrom65514 жыл бұрын
All the greats did some printing. Try googling their names + prints. Look at Giorgio Morandi for drawing and etching techniques. Take the techniques and try them out with your own ideas. Verticals versus horizontals and size versus weight balance applies to both picture and abstract. Have fun playing every time.

Why are they monoprints, if there are three?
@icampos897 жыл бұрын
Monotype =/= monoprint.
@davidannett33227 жыл бұрын
what's weird is the wiki definition of both is the reverse. Now i'm confused. "Monotyping produces a unique print, or monotype; most of the ink is removed during the initial pressing" whereas "A monoprint is a single impression of an image made from a reprintable block..... Monoprints may also involve elements that change, where the artist reworks the image in between impressions or after printing so that no two prints are absolutely identical." from watching, this is monoprint, no?
@davidannett33227 жыл бұрын
Ahhh, it's all about the printing surface. Monotypes are where the printing block is unaltered, as in smooth glass or acrylic, ink on top (unique becasue the ink is mostly removed when printed), whereas with monoprints, there is some type of etching involved, like lino cutting, wood block carving, etc.
@icampos897 жыл бұрын
David Annett Monotypes are one of a kind. You get one “good” impression with subsequent impressions with less ink called ghost prints. Mono prints have a matrix that can be altered. Examples using different collage, colors, etc with a woodblock, etching.
