here is a tip for getting the most juice out of lemons and limes...before cutting it open ....roll the fruit on a hard surface vigorously while pressing down this will release a lot more juice and make squeezing the juice easier...works every time ;-)
@allenwilson96566 жыл бұрын
jim foster Also if you have a microwave ( everyone should ) warm the lemon / lime in it for a few seconds. That will help too .
@gr83needlenoses6 жыл бұрын
jim foster I microwave limes and lemons for 30 seconds prior to Jim’s instructions to maximize juice.

gr83needlenoses. Did you know Russia actually outlawed microwaves and called them NUKERS. I wouldn't put anything in one of those death machines...not even water. BTW...get one of these wooden hand held juicers and you'll get a lot more juice. Also with what jim foster said about rolling it around first. It works just as good a motorized lemon juicer and it's much easier to clean up and faster as well! www.seriouseats.com/2016/07/equipment-best-manual-citrus-juicers-reamers-squeezers.html
@nunyabizness68126 жыл бұрын
I agree that MICROWAVING your citrus is a terrible idea. Destroys the precious vitamins and FLAVOR. All you need to do is take the lemons and limes out of the fridge well before you need to use them. You can set them in the sun and let them warm up. Then press each end into the cutting surface as hard as you can, THEN press down and roll with the palm of your hand like a rolling pin. Then finally you cut in half and you can even buy a lemon press which also has an insert for limes. It's a heavy metal press you can buy at any good kitchenwares shop. This is how I get the MOST out of citrus fruits!

Having lived on Andros for five years I've seen a lot of different ways to make conch salad; each of them is made just a little better by tenderizing the conch first- I have seen the BeeWees (the old timers, that is) use the heel of a coke bottle to do so, and usually vendors are parked on the side of the road working out of the trunk of their car. Any way you fix it, conch is the bomb! (Fritters, cracked conch, grilled...yum!) Try the land crab sometime. Crab and pigeon peas w/rice. Oh yeah! Don't forget the coconut bread.

I love all that you do!!!!!!!! I just learned what a Conch salad looks like. I will now goggle more information on the Conch. Catching fish and going more in the descriptive nature of the fish would be interesting. Anything sailing, what extra equipment do u carry, what u would carry in the future. If the mast broke what would u do? Do u carry extra rudders if one broke? I have no idea any information given would be a learning experience for me.😀

Great idea, Deborah! Yes, I am very curious how they eat. They are both so fit and obvious are excellent swimmers and water athletes...just an amazing couple. I love love love watching their videos. Other than the tinges of jealousy, because this is quite similar to the life I had imagined for myself in my head when I was younger (wanted to live in a tropical area and boat a lot, snorkel, swim and SCUBA, learn to fish and grow my own food...) I love how happy they make us all feel!

I love you guys so much! The recipe idea is GREAT! I'd also love to see some more videos about food storage and grocery shopping and fishing/cooking the food you gather. Have you guys ever tried growing any plant on the cat? I know it's a very small space but I wonder if live aboard have figured out ways to grow say greens or something else that grows well and quickly in the hot sun.

It's beautiful the way the two of you have made the majesty of nature, and the bounty of the sea, an intimate part of your life. I also like the way you incorporated exercise into your boating life. If I had a cat, I would try to incorporate a stationary bicycle training stand, and maybe a lightweight treadmill. Since y'all kiteboard. I'd probably look into launching a paramotor from the cat or the little boat (forgot the name)..😊 But I know nothing about boating. Just an admirer of the two of you. Billy reminds me of one of my good old buddies (good guy). Always TCB'ed. #Goodtimes👍😀

Hello just curious when you first arrived you went to customs etc. I’m curious about some details which may be a lot different than most since you video your days and likely become known of by many. Are you periodically checked upon by authorities? Is there a requirement that you check in after so many days? Is there a limit in days that you can stay and must you pay any more than initially paid?
