Two questions from a complete beginner, looking into patio renovation: what sort of surface can this be used on? Simple soil or plus extra layer of sand? And secondly, do you fill up the gaps with sand later? This method seems to produce sharp edges and I was wondering if filling the gaps with sand or otherwise might smother that a bit? Otherwise great job, I love the pattern! 👍🖤
