I'd love to see this applied to a 1930's art deco city. Or even a medieval fantasy city. That would be cool.

It is not just the pixel space of the object, but also how much attention is given to the object by the viewer. It makes sense to allocate time and effort on the things that are going to be seen more.

I love your workflow and how you explain it clearly, while I found out another process much longer that I'm currently using: you basically model some modular assets for walls/windows of different buildings than you use a custom geometry nodes (like buildify) to make buildings out of them and then scatter into a city very detailed and suitable to be use in dynamic animations.

No doubt to roll in the course, Max is a great teacher I can surely vouch that.

The Ian Hubert texture abuse method is unmatched! He has some great additional shorts on how you can even make up-close props without much time with just a few good textures. They can do sooo much heavy lifting in a scene

I'm excited to learn from this course. Perfect timing as I'm about to start a huge project next year that will require lots of sci-fi art. Thanks for continuing to put out great content, both in terms of education and art!

From a game dev perspective, you're modelling your render with LODs in mind (Level of Detail models). This is a performance solution in games, but for a still render, this can be applied to speeding up your workflow but modelling less detail for the background. The midground, would be for instance, LOD2-3 (mid ground from LOD0 which is highest detail, close to the camera).

It’s an LG ultrawide, but I wouldn’t recommend the specific one I have as the colors are sort of off. I need a new one but haven’t done that yet.
I have a 8 Gb VRAM laptop. Rendering is mostly excruciating, mostly. 😊

Render farm is the way to go. That’s what you find people who know what they’re doing do. It allows your work station to stay open so you can continue working while rendering. It’s also 10x faster in many cases. Obviously this is easier if you’re making money from your work.
@maxhayart17 күн бұрын
Yeah a render farm can work. Eevee is getting better too, I’m sure with some getting used to you could make banger renders in eevee
