Hey man , if you are doing dance hall it's all about the rhythm and bass before it is about chords . You should of focused on creating a stronger syncopated bass than just long note sub bass . Obviously like you said dancehall is all about the rhythm and you didn't really capture that .

It's true there are JUST a handful of Nigerian artists that label their genre "reggae". True also that no artists in Jamaica (that I've heard of at least) are Afrobeat inclined. But reggae is something that almost anyone can make w/o even having gone to Jamaica. Afrobeat on the other hand is impossible to pull off. You have to actually be African and/or submerged in the African culture.
