Very nice dehydrator!!! My 2 dryers are 39 yrs old and still going strong. I never ran my dryers on an inverter. This is a great idea and very innovative. Thank You for passing it on.

@@ItsGoodintheWoods Nahmakanta Lake is beautiful. I needed to get out at least one more time to try out the Chestnut Chum canoe. Not used to base camping. I like being on the move so it was different for me this time. You must have hunkered down at Nahmakanta stream campsite on the Appalachian Trail. Did you bump into any through hikers? I know that they were around and getting ready to summit Katahdin. Looking forward to your trip video.

@@ItsGoodintheWoods I tried it. What kind of oranges did you use. Mine are ok ish. The peel is too bitter for me. Haven’t dipped it in chocolate yet so gonna try that.

@@THESHAODOWCAMPER I used cara cara navel oranges. One of my favorite oranges. I did make sure to try a few slices to make sure they were suitable before I dehydrated them. You can also dip the slices in sugar before dehydrating to help take out some of the bitter.

Excellent. Was curious if the stay in the freezer would soften them a bit but it didn’t sound like it . Have done watermelon ? The one’s she did freeze dried almost have a cotton candy taste . Don’t see why a dehydrator would be much different. We’ll have to try your chocolate version. Sounds good / interesting. Have a great day

You've got me really interested in making my own dehydrated snacks. Can you recommend a dehydrator or maybe features I need to look for when purchasing one? There is a lot to choose from on the market.

There are so many models out there. Make sure to get one that has adjustable temperature and a fan. Timers are not necessary. You can always plug the unit into a timer. I paid $150 for mine and it works great. I started with cheaper ones, personally I wouldn't recommend that. This cabelas dehydrator outperforms my cheaper ones on a spectacular level. That said, our dehydrator runs a lot. We do a lot of dehydrating. I am considering upgrading again next year for more space.

This may be a silly question but can you peel the rind and then slice? Or does the rind help hold it together when drying?
