How to make Delicious Dal Methi: Authentic Recipe + Pro Tips for Flavourful Goodness!

DAL METHI
INGREDIENTS:
1/2 cup of chana dal
1/2 cup of moong dal
1 litre of water
1pinch of hing
1/2 tsp of turmeric powder
2 tsp of finely chopped garlic
2 tsp pf finely chopped ginger
2 tsp of finely chopped green chillies
2-3 tbsp of oil
1/2 tsp of Mustard seeds
1 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
A sprig of curry leaves
2 medium onions finely chopped
2 finely chopped tomatoes
Salt to taste
1/4 cup of water
1 large cup of methi leaves
2 tbsp of ghee
1 inch of julienne ginger
2-3 red chillies
METHOD:
Soak 1/2 cup of chana dal
And 1/2 cup of moong dal
Add 1 litre f water
Add 1 pinch of hing
1/2 tsp of turmeric powder
1 tsp of finely chopped garlic
1 tsp pf finely chopped ginger
1 tsp of finely chopped green chillies
Pressure cook it for 2-3 whistles
For Tadka
Heat 2-3 tbsp of oil
Splutter 1/2 tsp of Mustard seeds
Add 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
A sprig of curry leaves
Add 1 tbsp of finely chopped garlic and ginger each
1 tbsp of green chillies
Sauté for a minute
Add 2 medium onions finely chopped
Sauté them till they are translucent
Add 2 finely chopped tomatoes
Sauté it for a minute
Add Salt accordingly
Add 1/4 cup of water
Add 1 large cup of methi leaves
Sauté it till the methi is cooked
Add the dal to the methi gravy
Stir the dal
Add a little water
Cover and bring the dal to a boil
For tempering
Heat a tadka pan
Heat 2 tbsp of ghee
Splutter 1 tsp of cumin seeds
Add 1 inch of julienne ginger
Sauté it for 30 seconds
Add 2-3 red chillies
Shut the flame
And drizzle the tadka over the dal
Cover it and let it rest for 5 minutes
