How to make distance measuring device(rodometer) using encoder and Arduino | Experimentalist.

Calculations used in this project: 1st of all calculate the circumference of wheel (2*pi*r) because distance travel by wheel is equal to its circumference, and after that attach the encoder and rotate the wheel to one revolution, and see count how many ticks made by encoder in one revolution . and divide the circumference by no of ticks, the result is ticks equivalent to distance. in my case the circumference = 120 cm ,it is calculate by 2*pi*r , r is the radius of wheel. Number of ticks in one revolution is 40. Divide circumference by ticks in one revolution 120/40, result is 3, means in 3 ticks it cover 3 cm, and for 40 ticks cover 40*3 = 120 cm.

Yes you can use, but it not give good result in high speed, there are other rotory encoder sensor you can use for high speed

for connection of lcd to arduino you follow the code.for circuit diagram of connection of lcd you give me your email address.i will send the circuit diagram of connection LCD RS pin to digital pin 12 LCD Enable pin to digital pin 11 LCD D4 pin to digital pin 5 LCD D5 pin to digital pin 4 LCD D6 pin to digital pin 3 LCD D7 pin to digital pin 2 Additionally, wire a 10k pot to +5V and GND, with it's wiper (output) to LCD screens VO pin (pin3). A 220 ohm resistor is used to power the backlight of the display, usually on pin 15 and 16 of the LCD connector.

CLK pin of encoder connect to arduino pin pin 7 of arduino and DT pin of encoder connect to arduino pin 6 ,and finally for lcd connection you simply search on google ,maximum connection is same for lcd connection.
