Humblebee & Me Just a question, since this has no essential oils in it, would it be okay for a pregnant woman to use? On the baby? I'm thinking it would be okay since there are no essential oils in it and the scent comes naturally from the cocoa butter.

Made this for Amy (DIL) and she loves it. Unlike most other belly balms, this does not leave an oily residue. After applying on myself I noticed there was a slight momentary watery feel & skid feel. Sort of like when you make a cream or lotion and it separates. Am thinking that I didnt leave the two jugs in water bath long enough, maybe they were not close enough in temp and WERE trying to separate. Thanks for this great recipe!

Hi Marie. I’ve been binge-watching all your videos with excitement since I found you! I feel grateful to access such knowledge without any cost. Thanks for always sharing. I think you’re awesome and beautiful. 🦄😘😘 Please does almond milk count as milk when making lotion/body butter? I know animal milk is a no no. I would like to use almond milk in place of water. I’m trying to replicate ‘Amande Milk concentrate’ from L’Occitane. This lotion makes my skin shockingly soft but it’s expensive. 🙈 Please make a video if you think it’s possible. Thank you ❤️
@HumblebeeAndMe
@HumblebeeAndMe 6 жыл бұрын
Almond milk is also a no-no-it's full of yummy food for bacteria. Looking at the ingredients list for this product, though, L'Occitane hasn't used almond milk, either: Water, Isononyl Isononanoate, Cyclomethicone, Glycerin, Cetearyl Alcohol, Methylsilanol Mannuronate, Triethylhexanoin, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Protein, Cetearyl Glucoside, Mannitol, Menthyl Lactate, Parfum/Fragrance, Carbomer, Sodium Polyacrylate, Glyceryl Polymethacrylate, Biosaccharide Gum-1, Methylisothiazolinone, Sorbic Acid, Glyceryl Stearate Se, Xanthan Gum, Benzoic Acid, Dehydroacetic Acid, Tocopherol, Phenoxyethanol, Chlorphenesin, Ppg-26-Buteth-26, Ethylhexylglycerin, Peg-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Polyaminopropyl Biguanide, Limonene, Linalool, Coumarin. It looks like they've included some almond protein, but that's a far cry from including actual almond milk!

Hello Marie! Thank you so much for sharing your recipes! I have a problem with this one I hope you'll be able to help me iron out. The product will roll when I rub it between my hands. I only seem to have this problem with the products containing emulsifying wax. So you know what could be causing this? What adjustments can I make to avoid it? It happens when I use polawax or ecomulse/emulseimulse. Has this ever happened to you?
@HumblebeeAndMe
@HumblebeeAndMe 5 жыл бұрын
That sounds like pilling, which I usually only have issues with in products that contain gums. The water absorbs/evaporates, leaving the gum behind, which creates a film that will pill up if rubbed. I don't see anything in this formula that would make it particularly pill-prone, though. Is there a chance you have other things on your hands? I know pilling can also happen with certain combinations of skin care products 🤔
@laurierussel6073
@laurierussel6073 5 жыл бұрын
@@HumblebeeAndMe I haven't been using anything else when this happens, it usually happens over a larger area of skin or if I reapply multiple times. I notice the more water I use the less this happens! It's unfortunate because a thick body butter is sometimes nice too. I used the wax you reccommended in your blog post, I follow the links to get my ingredients so I think we're using the same product. Do you think it could be a temperature thing? I usually temp the oil phase at 155 F.

Hi i have tried doing the whipped body butter but for some reason it doesn't stay soft to the touch it gets a little firm and isbt as creammy as when i 1st mix it...is that normal? And how can i get it to stay fluffy.

This one goes sort of marshmallowy, and isn't a whipped body butter. If it's marshmallowy, you aren't doing anything wrong-that's just the recipe. You might want to check out my vanilla spice whipped body butter if you are looking for a soft whipped body butter :)

No, it wouldn't-shea butter is much softer than cocoa butter and will not give the structure required for whipping. It'll still be a cool lotion thing, but it won't be as fluffy.

Not really; you can make body butters using cocoa butter, but if you remove the water element (which comprises over 70% of the formula) you will be fundamentally changing the end product. I have heaps of body butter recipes here that you might like: www.humblebeeandme.com/make-body-butter/ :)

Hey! So, I have no idea. Calgary is not that warm, and I just don't get a chance to formulate in persistently hot weather-it's about as foreign to me as formulating on Mars. With the greatest respect, you shouldn't be selling products if you can't even formulate your own recipes. Marie teaches DIY here for you to make at home. You need to be studying cosmetic chemistry and learning how to formulate rather than copying someone else. What are you going to do if something goes wrong? Do you know the difference between emulsifiers? Do you understand essential oils and photosensitivity with citrus oils? Do you know whether to choose cetyl or cetearyl alcohol for a recipe? Do you know the usage rates for fragrance oils? Do you know how to get a cosmetic safety assessment? There's so much more to making cosmetics than it may appear. Please don't try to sell products without real knowledge.
