usually i mix xanthan gum with glycerin first then add to the mixture. its easier that way. no blob or uneven paste. 😊

Humblebee & Me actually glycerine being water soluble also thickens and forms lumps... if u mix it with few drops of oil ...like almond or olive then it doent get dissolve...but it gets distributed evenly...and then u add the water part in the mixture stirring constantly ..... its the perfect way .... (i make gel like that without lumps)

Made this and it is absolutely heavenly... I already made two batches - the first one came out a bit too gooey but it worked well, the second batch was perfection, used only 1/4 tsp xanthan gum and I'm already almost out of it. It cleanses my dry-ish, acne prone skin without dryness or irritation. Along with the citrus cleansing balm, the creamy clay cleansing balm and the black soap citrus balm this is the only stuff I use on my face... until Marie comes up with another cleanser haha.

I'm so glad! I have been using this daily for about two months now and I love it, too. I can't wait to try a batch thickened with crothix instead of xanthan gum, which is definitely a bit... boogery... :P And I do have another facial cleanser coming out... stay tuned ;) I'm still testing it!

Humblebee & Me I just ordered some crothix from Bramble Berry to make your rose body wash so I'd like to try to use it on the chamomile cleanser too. Any tips on how much to add to the cleanser and when to add it?

Start with ~1%, and add it after the wash is COMPLETELY cool :) And start with very little, you can make slime by accident fairly fast lol.

Hi! I made this cleanser and totaly loved it! I used the same ingredients as you, although I had one issue... after a couple of weeks (3-4) my gel separated, and when I pumped the bottle it just came out liquid but just on the bottom, cause when I opened the pump bottle the top was still a gel. After it happened I tried making it again and it separated again on the bottom after some weeks. Do you have any idea what could've happened? And maybe how to prevent whis? Thank u so much for all your wonderful formulations! Greetings from Chile

Perhaps you should try utilizing a hot plate in the situations where you need to be over heat? I don't know if the steam is an issue.. I wish I had all the ingredients to make this, I would love to try it! I was about to ask if it was ok if it stayed together more than a night & it's funny that you ended up leaving it a week like I would probably end up doing lol

I have one... I just left it at the venue of the last workshop I taught LOL. Steam definitely is an issue, but as long as I keep the heat reasonably low it seems to be fine.

I love your videos!! Could you help explain a bit on the reason why you are using both SCI and Amphosol CG? As far as I understand, one should be enough to go? Or is it beacuse they have different charateristics so that you use both?
@HumblebeeAndMe
@HumblebeeAndMe 7 жыл бұрын
The SCI is the primary surfactant (it's anionic), while the Amphosol CG is secondary (it's amphoteric). You could use SCI on its own, but it's nicer/milder with Amphosol CG, plus it's not at all inclined to dissolve in water on its own (I once left some in a jar with water for 8 months and it never dissolved!) so the end product would likely be lumpy. This blog has an even better, more detailed explanation: itsallinmyhands.com/2013/04/20/how-to-formulate-a-detergent/.

I found that you use SCS/Amphosol in your "Pumpkin Spice Foaming Hand Wash" recipe. If I want to use SCS to make facial cleanser in stead of hand wash, should I use 6g SCS/14g Amphosol CG (the ratio in this video) or 10g SCS/15g Amphosol CG (the ratio in the recipe of hand wash)? Btw I receive my cupuacu butter this week. I fall in love with this butter immediately and order another 500 g today!!!! Thank you soooooo much!!!!!!!

Things looks wonderful and I would like to make this very soon. My ONLY question is: Can ANYTHING else be used instead of Honeyquat and not compromise final product? (I just can NOT stand the smell of it)
@HumblebeeAndMe
@HumblebeeAndMe 6 жыл бұрын
For this you could just replace it with water, it's not make-or-break in this product :) Also! I was at Windy Point yesterday and noticed they have two different colours of honeyquat (a new batch and an older batch) and I couldn't BELIEVE how much better the paler/newer batch smelled. So, there is hope!

I think u could cut some processing time and there are some ingredients u could mix together instead separated. By the looks of final product, its too thick for a face wash. Better using % each ingredients for better result, it isn't a baking formula.
@HumblebeeAndMe
@HumblebeeAndMe 6 жыл бұрын
...? Nothing separated, the thickness is very much a personal preference and is easily adjusted, and if you convert the "g" to a % you'll see that it was developed in percentages.

It definitely can, but any aloe vera gel is going to be a commercial product, so it's impossible to say what that would be from. It's not the aloe, since aloe juice is pretty much indistinguishable from water, but it could be a gelling agent.
